Loudoun County’s new Political Action Committee Educate Loudoun announced their choices for Loudoun County’s School Board Sept. 13.
School Board Chairman John Stevens (Potomac) was the only current sitting board member to be endorsed by the PAC.
Before he announced his candidacy, Stevens was a founding member of the PAC, so the endorsement doesn’t come as a surprise. Stevens left the committee just before he formally announced his intentions for re-election in the newly formed Algonkian District.
Other candidates chosen for an endorsement included Chris Souther in the Ashburn District, Kevin Kuesters in the Broad Run District, Jeff Morse in the Dulles District and Bill Fox in the Leesburg District.
According to the announcement, the candidates were chosen for mirroring the goals of the PAC.
Those goals include “supporting making strategic management reforms, developing a long range plan to meet enrollment needs, providing more education choices and increasing transparency in the policy process.”
“After serious consideration, Educate Loudoun’s founding members believe that these candidates most closely align with our goals and interests,” said founding member Kirsten Langhorne. “I look forward to working with and supporting these candidates throughout the campaign season. We wish them the best of luck.
“We plan on helping their campaigns through our team promotions, with volunteers and with money where necessary,” Langhorne said. “We also hope to support their developing working relationships, so they can hit the road running in January.”
The PAC also announced that more endorsements could be announced in the near future.
