Cub Scouts Pack 533 from Potomac Crossing in Leesburg recently visited the Loudoun County Solid Waste Management Facility for a tour of the landfill.
The Scouts learned - among other things - that paper recycling in Loudoun County last year saved over one-million trees and that plastic bottles are recycled into T-shirts. They also saw large tractors smash trash.
The Loudoun County Solid Waste Management Facility is located at 21101 Evergreen Mills Road, Leesburg, and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Tours are currently being scheduled for weekdays through November. Call 703-771-5514 for tour information. More information about the landfill is available online at www.loudoun.gov/landfill.
