Man barricades himself in Sterling residence

An Aug. 22 barricade situation ended without incident after members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Hostage Negotiations Unit responded to the scene.

A Sterling man had barricaded himself in a room of a residence in the 100 block of Plum Tree Court in Sterling at approximately 12:30 p.m. and, according to the Sheriff’s Office, made statements he was going to harm himself.

Officials on the scene, which included members of the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team, learned that there was a family member and weapons inside the home.

Residents in the area were advised to stay in their homes during the incident, which lasted until 2:25 p.m. when the subject exited the home and was taken into custody.

Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office are clearing the scene of a barricade situation in Sterling.

At approximately 12:30 this afternoon the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office learned a man had made statements he was going to harm himself. The man, whose name has not been released, barricaded himself in a room inside of a residence in the 100 block of Plum Tree Court in Sterling Park. Another man also was inside the home, and the sheriff's office learned there were weapons in the residence as well.

Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Emergency Response Team and the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Hostage Negotiations Unit responded to the scene. A Reverse 911 was also issued to homes in the area advising residents to stay in their homes during the barricade situation, according to the sheriff's office.

At approximately 2:25 p.m. the subject exited the home and was taken into custody without incident. No one was injured in the incident.
