A Loudoun Sheriff’s deputy discovered a 1998 Ford truck near Enterprise street at around 1:45 a.m. On July 26. The vehicle matched the description to a vehicle believed to be involved in a license plate larceny that was reported 15 minutes prior near East Beech Road and North Irving Road.
“We had received a call from a resident that they saw someone moving license plates from one vehicle to another,” Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Kraig Troxell said.
The deputy attempted to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle — which subsequently sped off.
A brief pursuit ensued before the driver of the vehicle lost control and the truck rolled completely over before coming to rest against a building near Enterprise Street.
Five suspects fled from the vehicle, and two were apprehended immediately.
A third suspect was located hiding in a shed in the backyard of a nearby residence.
At this time, the Sheriff’s office was made aware of an attempted robbery at the McDonald’s on South Sterling Boulevard that occurred prior to the start of the pursuit. According to the Sheriff’s Office, several suspects entered the restaurant, one carrying a knife. The suspects left empty handed.
“We basically found out about the robbery as the pursuit was going on,” Troxell said.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that at least two of the suspects caught were involved in the July 21 attempted robbery of the McDonald’s in CountySide.
In that case, four men, with their faces covered, went into the restaurant in the 20800 block of Pidgeon Hill Drive at 12:24 a.m. One of the men brandished a knife during the incident. Employees of the restaurant were able to escape unharmed during the heist and the men left empty-handed. No injuries were reported, and the suspects were only described as Hispanic.
Angel A. Menjivar, 22, of Leesburg, and Henri M. Aguirre-Membrano, 19, of Falls Church, were charged with two counts of attempted robbery and gang participation.
Both men are held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on Immigrations and Customs Enforcement detainers.
The third suspect, a 15-year-old male from Falls Church, was issued a detention order for the July 26 attempted robbery. Further charges are pending, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The case remains under investigation as the Sheriff’s office is attempting to identify two additional suspects.
