Police have arrested a Herndon man who had been wanted in connection with a June 19 malicious wounding in Sterling.
Natividad D. Alvarado-Arias, 49, is accused of assaulting a 17-year-old. He was arrested on Aug. 7.
The victim reported at the time that he was walking in the 400 block of Enterprise Street around 2 a.m. with friends when they were met by several male subjects.
Alvarado-Arias allegedly approached the group, then brandished a broken beer bottle, according to witness reports, and stabbed the victim — causing serious injuries.
Kraig Troxell spokesman for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, does not believe the incident was gang related.
The victim was taken from the scene to Reston Hospital via a friend’s car, but was later transferred to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He has since recovered.
Alvarado-Arias was identified as a suspect after the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office put together a composite sketch with the cooperation of a witness.
The sketch was distributed to the public and local law enforcement agencies. An officer saw the sketch and provided information that helped Loudoun Sheriff’s Investigators identify the suspect.
“The suspect was identified by a member of another law enforcement agency regarding an unrelated arrest,” Troxell said. “That is all we can say at this time.”
Alvarado-Arias was located in Reston Aug. 7 and taken into custody by the Fairfax County Police Department.
He remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center sans bond.
