The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 39-year-old Sterling woman struck an 11-year-old Sterling girl with her vehicle while the girl was trying to cross traffic on Augusta Drive on June 13.
The incident, which occurred at 3:31 p.m., occurred when the girl was attempting to cross south of the crosswalk, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Neither party saw each other because of dense school bus traffic.
The 11-year-old was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital, notably as a precaution — according to the Sheriff’s Office. She was released from the hospital that night.
The driver of the car, a 2006 Ford Focus, will not currently face charges, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation.
