A 49 year-old Sterling man prevented his own mugging last week. He was walking in the 300 block of Avondale Drive in Sterling around 6:40 p.m. on April 29 when two masked men came up to him in and attempted to mug him, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The two masked men assaulted the victim by spraying him with pepper spray, according to deputies. During the scuffle, the suspects tried to steal the man’s wallet but were unsuccessful. Authorities say the suspects then fled the scene.
The victim suffered only minor injuries during the assault.
