happy easter everyone

That's right, here's a list of the candidates thus far:
Sheriff Steve Simpson - Independent
Mark Davis - (Republican) Recently pulled out and is now endorsing Verne Dickerson
Verne Dickerson - (Republican)
Mike Chapman - (Republican)
Ron Speakman - (Republican)
***So far no Democrats have thrown their hat into the ring.

This will be an interesting election year. Simpson is embroiled in a number of controversies, he has no website, and has only reported $150 in contributions during the last few months.

Actually, if you include non-itemized donations, Simpson received a whopping $250.

It seems odd that there are 2 independent candidates running, 1 republican and no democrats.
The 1st independent is Simpson, the incumbent, who has been in office for 16 years, and while he did a great job his first 2 terms, the rest seemed to have been phoned in while the county has grown tremendously and faced new issues that comes with growth. In addition, he appeared in an article in the Washington post for receiving multiple campaign contributions from a local restruantuer who was already charged with committing fraud for $50 million in loans.
The 2nd independent is Speakman, who lost the Republican nomination, and whose primary residence is a multi million dollar estate in Potomac, MD, with an investment property in Loudoun Co. No thanks, we don't need another part time sheriff just phoning it in, we have that now.
I can see why neither Simpson or Speakman have a party affiliation.
The Republican Candidate, Mike Champman seems to have great long time career consisting of both local and Federal Law enforcement experience and is backed by both state representatives and local officials, including the prosecutor in Loudoun Co.
