Dirt roads in western loudoun county

Why is it, while living in the most affluent county in the United States, that the roads in the western part of this county are horrendous.
After nearly every rain storm, the gravel road we live off of is nearly impassable and needs to be regraded. The road is used by school buses which stop, pick up and discharge young kids, yet the road is currently in such disrepair that VDOT has sections of it closed with orange traffic cones where two cars can't pass abreast.
The high cost of gravel and the cost of repeatedly sending out repair crews must be taxing the states road repair budget, not to mention my families budget for tires and wheel alignments and balancing.
Wouldn't it be more fiscally responsible to just pave these roads?
I travel on occasion on business and I am often amazed that nearly all states and even some third world countries have better roads then we have here in affluent Loudoun County...why?

Be careful what you ask for... Loudoun County is already well underway of being Fairfax.

Believe it or not?... For decades, both; the wealthy and regular folk
residing in Western Loudoun and Fauquier have resisted the paving of their
country roads. They prefer to preserve the bucolic nature of their feeder
streets. Paved roads result in increased looky-loo traffic and they don't
want it.

That aside and as 'Don't Fairfax Loudoun' points out... "Be careful what you
ask for..." The increasing middle income population coming to the area will
demand increased road infrastructure and paved roads. In the end, this will
eliminate part of what has always been wonderful about the area. Paved roads
and progress will slowly eliminate the scenery and longtime prestige for one
of the USA's best places for an equine lifestyle.

The wealthy will leave and the rest of us will be left to enjoy traffic
gridlock and future vistas of Toll Bros. townhomes and condos. It is coming.

That may be true about the wealthy in western Loudoun wanting to preserve the country feel of the area, I too want to preserve it, I just don't believe getting stuck in the mud on an unimproved road adds to the ambiance of the rolling hills and horse pastures. Heck, Tar and Chip the surface to at least stop the rain from washing the gravel away.

Sterling Park in Eastern Loudoun has had the desired paved roads since the 1960's.

Informed property and home owners in the Western reaches of Loudoun County knew and appreciated what they were getting into for the country roads.

Caveat Emptor everyone!

Loudoun is steadily being eaten up by the people who previously enjoyed it as visitors. Why drive through a meadow when you can live in a development called "The Meadows"??

Still preferring real meadows in Loudoun over "The Meadows" development-type that Toll Bros. has bestowed upon us.

Stay off my dirt road. If you want a paved road go east to Fairfax, Arlington or even DC

Lets see hmm you bought a house on a gravel road. I bet that road will still be gravel when you move. If you wanted paved roads why did you move here?

Sent any road complaints to richmond, its a VDOT issue, NOT Loudoun county's oversight or decision making. Virginia is one of only a few states that still operates like this. Unless its an incorporated town or city...its VDOT

BECAUSE THEY ONLY SPEND NOVA TAX DOLLARS TO REPAVE THE ALREADY BEAUTIFULLY PAVED ROADS IN aSHBURN NOW A DAYS, ROADS THAT DID NOT EVEN HAVE A CRACK OR POTHOLE IN THEM. THEY ARE NOW GORGEOUS. THEY WERE FINE BEFORE THEY REPAVED THEM. MUST BE DUE TO LOTS OF RICH OLD PEOPLE LIVING IN THE AREAS.

Show me a person who likes gravel roads and I'll show you a person who is used to living in a trailer park.
He may be missing a few front teeth or works at the local stables brushing off horses.
He likely drives an old rusty Jeep which he thinks is the best car on the road even though it's actually the worst. He could care less if the outside is covered with dust or the inside looks and smells of horse manure.
Jeez, even the hayseeds in WV have paved roads to drives their Jeeps on.

50+ year resident of Western Loudoun. Myself and neighbors do mostly drive
older vehicles that are meant to traverse the unpaved country roads that
we still love.

Some of us do enjoy care of horse, cattle, emu, llama etc. We don't live
in trailers and maintain residence in nice homes that we constructed and/or
taken-on from ancestors.

We also own many acres of valuable land. The day will come soon when we all
decide to sell and move on. The newcomers will get their paved roads along
with condominium, townhouse and McMansion. The roads will be paved and
there will be no more pastures/vistas/nature that made Western Loudoun so
amazing for so long.

Because the rich fucks out there don't want the traffic they forced on us lesser people in the eastern part of the county. FUck these assholes. I hope they all get dick cancer and die a slow, miserable death and their heirs piss their fortunes away on hookers and coke- like they already do.

My good man; good of you to stay to the east Rt 28 and allow us in the upper crust to remain free of having to view the signs of your indigence. I can assure you that the duration of my "dick cancer" will be spent in accommodations you have only seen on your tiny black and white TV and in the company of fair maidens that silence crowds as they pass.

So as not to wish equally ill will upon you and show you I am the better man, I will only hope that your twenty year old Kia breaks down en route to your McJob.
