I went to school with the Ho kids and the two brothers that owned HO's dynasty split the more successful brother, took the good cooks and started a new place called Asian Grill in Springfield. It is located behind the whole foods in the panera shopping centere where block buster used to be right by the post office. Great food and its sad to see as Ho's dynasty used to be so good before teh brothers split.

Confirmed. The shopping center owner is raising the rent. Ho's Dynasty is closing at the end of November, after 25 years of business. Definitely a shame, since it's the best Chinese food in the area. Curves is also closing and possibly some others. I wonder if that's part of the reason My Eye Dr. moved out and opened in Burke Centre shopping center in July...

I stopped my membership with Curves at Burke Centre on September 15 in writing at the Curves location and handed it to Katie. This was the same day I received notice that they would be closing on September 30 and the day they normally deducted my $39 membership dues from my checking account (which they did). Now I understand from Denise that they will only give me a 50% refund, and that they were only giving refunds to a couple of former members a pay period. Is anyone else having problems?

It is so sad to see these two businesses close. I have been a member of Curves since they opened. The staff has been great. I have made so many friends. I continued my membership by going over to their Springfield location. Most of my friends have done the same.

I have no idea about comparison of the two chinese restaurants. What I do know is that Ho's told us that the owners were raising the rent.....an outrageous amount, a very high percentage.......the rent was going to be 14,000 a MONTH! The restaurant even tried to negotiate another increase but less than the proposed new one....but that was flatly turned down!

$14,000 A MONTH!!! Who could afford that kind of rent---they drove them out of business. They showed no regard for a business that had been there and had absolutely helped bring business to the rest of the mall.

I am going to see what can be done about these kinds of increases.

It's their shopping center; if they're asking too much rent, the space won't lease. The space is leased; therefore, they weren't asking too much rent. If the Chinese restaurant couldn't pay the freight, they got to leave. Pretty simple.

They certainly have the right to charge whatever they want for rent, but if they're asking too much and the space won't lease, then they drove away those businesses for no reason and created a lose/lose situation for themselves and the public.

If they had several clients beating down the door all happy to pay $14 K, then by all means...

Time will tell if that's a valid criticism or not.

Damn, some of y'all are just plain stupid.

See link.

Let me help -- the Dynasty space is leased to Cafe Rio (Mexican); they're already in 7 Corners and Manassas, and out west. The Curves space is "at lease", which means they've got a deal, but it's probably not signed yet. There's 1,600 whole square feet in that center available.

So CBRE knows that they're doing.

It wasn't 16,000. The 1600 sq ft location is 38/sq ft. That's barely $5000. Ho's was twice as big but that's still not $16000 a month. 10 maybe.

And the space NEXT to the old Ho's space is now leased to "W Salon." Wow, the owners of this center REALLY dropped the ball by leasing to new tenants! (Sarcasm off).
