No addresses from Burke or Ffx Station have either assault or disorderly listed on the Arrest List for any date after Nov 24 2010. How often is that list updated?
I'm not sure I'd believe this until further information is posted. All that being said, teach your kids how to appropriately defend themselves (i.e. how to get away without guys like this following).

BurkeRes, You make the assumption that this event did not occur because you did not see it on the "Arrest List". Really? That being said, your advise to teach our kids how to defend themselves has pompous overtones.

If you read the story, then you would know that there are no names or addresses (even to the "block of" level) enumerated in this "story" which is actually an opinion piece.
That alone cries out for skepticism of the story, but and even more-so the one-sided account of this story.
This column therefore can only be taken to constitute a warning to parents and kids about the general threat of creeps in the Burke/Fairfax Station area. That warning is superfluous as these problems exist everywhere. What would be useful is the perp's name/address. Given that, children could be shown pictures of this man and instructed on the location of his residence since he will not be spending very much time in jail.
To your second point, it is clear, if this story is true, that some local parents are not teaching their children to appropriately avoid/repel an assailant. Thanks for your opinion. Its value is immeasurable ... Actually immeasurably small.

The story is true, one of the boys involved in this is in one of my classes. There had been a rumor going around that the guy who had bothered them was a sex offender, but I'm not sure if that's true.

The author of this article states that she did not give any details since the parents she interviewed for the story asked her not to, for the safety of their children. The guy involved harassed a few of the kids after the incident, saying that they ruined his life. I understand the parents concern, but I think "outing" this guy would help keep their child, as well as other kids in the area, much safer.
