I went by BBQ World in Burke Towne Center recently and there was a sign on the drive-thru window that said something about defaulting on their lease. There was security there shooing people away, and one of the guys said that they hadn't been paying their rent.

This really bums me out for several reasons...first of all Mr. T, the guy who ran the place, was one of the nicest guys I've ever met and he worked hard as hell all the time. Apparently the place had been open since 1993 and for it all to just go up in smoke randomly really bums me out. I'm hoping he's doing okay. Secondly, their BBQ was AMAZING and I will miss their pulled pork sandwiches and potato salad a lot.

If anyone has any additional info or knows if BBQ World has a chance of re-opening I'd appreciate it.

Too much competition in Burke with so many fast food places. I wondered why a security guard was working that part of the center and just staying in front of BBQ World.

No idea what will take it's place, but I can't imagine anything will be able to surpass the awesomeness that was BBQ World. I was holding out hope that it would re-open, but they took the sign down a week or so ago. Looks like it's gone for good :(

A Pho place huh? As much as I will miss BBQ World, that will be cool if it's good. I like Pho a lot, and I can't think of any places that are super close here in Burke.

I had hoped it would reopen for all the reasons mentioned by others. We loved the chicken. It was a staple whenever we entertained, and everyone loved it. We've gotten our turkey there for at least the past 5 Thanksgivings, but we'll also greatly miss Mr. T. I'm still holding out and hoping they reopen somewhere in the area. There aren't a lot of good dining options in the Burke vicinity. I'll try the Pho, but it won't be BBQ World.

Really that place was horrible and gross. You want good bbq try Willards or Rocklands.

Hopefully a spirts bar with good bbq and other food.

But i remember one time they used their bare hands to grab the pulled pork, i was disgusted, but other than that 1 time, you will be missed.
