Gunshots before 6am in Springfield

Did anyone hear or know the origin of what I believe was gunshots...two or three before 6am this morning. We live at the corner of Alban and Rolling and heard them so clearly that it woke me from a sleep. Sounded very close. Was NOT a bus backfiring. Any info would be greatly appreciated
