McLean, make some noise!
Posted by: Bane of McLean ()

Almost as depressing as McLean's nightlife is McLean's board on this site.

Where do you guys hang out when in McLean?

- Borders
- Starbucks (Chain Bridge by Total Wine)
- (use to hit) Amerigo's
- Greenberry's

Clearly, I only drink coffee when I'm hanging out in McLean, which is to say I spend a lot of time in DC.

McLean/Tysons Corner seriously needs some nightlife and less traffic. Metro is a good idea if it also lowers the sky-rocketing prices of apartments complexes. As it stands now, it rush hour is now between 2 and 8pm! Ridoculous! We need better public transport and a Mclean center that has more to offer than ugly strip malls. As it stands now, one has to go to DC to have some sort of nightlife.

McLean has nightlife? Could have fooled me.
I think the reason why there are so few posts here is an age thing. McLean-ites, in my experience, tend to be older yuppies who just aren't cool enough to go looking for a site like this.
I know there are some young folks in McLean though. Maybe they just don't have anything to say.
Anyway, where do I hang out in McLean?....Well, most often I go to one of the parks and walk around or go to the MCC and look at the art....or, I go to teen center and shoot pool. Unless you want to hang out at Starbucks or the McLean Family Restaurant, you're pretty much out of luck if you're looking for fun in McLean. The place is just one big strip mall

Anyway, where do I hang out in McLean?....

There is a dive bar on Old Dominion near that plaza with Balducci's...it's surprisingly cool for the area (i.e. a smoky hard drinkin hometown atmosphere).

Go to DC or Arlington for partying, they are close.

The place is just one big strip mall

This statement applies to almost every place I've been to in FFX county, or the DC burbs in general.

Dear Everyone,
Hi I am Lola and have lived in Mclean Virginia since kindergarten. I think that the sterotype you put on me and all my friends and family is horrible you are all just jelous because you can't afford a nice home because you didnt go to a good college or college at all. Don't beat up Mclean because we don't have a great down town or the best drivers in the usa. And, who cares if Mclean Family restuarants food isnt the best? I go there for a church bibly study group every week and it looks to me like everyone is having a great time. I have known the he owner of Mclean Family since kindergarten and he does a great job. Kings Manor rocks! A ton of my friends live in there and I have so many memories on that playground from when i was little. So back off and stop giving us crap.

I've been to the bar near Balducci's... tiny, but was good. Get there early if you want a seat. Or to fit in the place. ;)

You must mean the Pub, because Mckeever's is never full, and you can't even smoke in there!!!

When ladymacb29 posted her comment, you could smoke at mckeevers. They only started the no smoking rule at the beginning of this year.

McLean is not for young people

Of course McLean doesn't have public nightlife. McLean is the "bedroom" for the wealthy, so it has stayed quiet and peaceful on purpose. Only little kids usually keep their bedrooms decked out with toys and games. Hence why poorer surrounding areas generally have more entertainment. Basically when those in McLean wanna have fun, they will come to your poorer neighborhood, smash beer bottles in your front lawn, wake you up with their loud booming music, then go back to their quiet and peaceful untainted neighborhood. If you don't believe me just take note of how many cop cars you see in McLean versus, DC or Falls Church.

I never hang out in McLean, but if I had to hang out in an emergency, I'd go to the McLean Pub. Everyone who wants to just hang out and be with friends and chat goes there. It's the official young persons (but still above 18) place to go.

The Starbucks at the far end of McLean, close to Arlington is the one I hang out at the most (which is not to say that I hang out there all the time, but just that I would hang out there more if I had to). It's the double-decker Starbucks which is in its own little building, across from Pizza Hut.

If you're under 21 then McLean is definitely not for you.

There isn't much to do in McLean. If you like the bar scene or having a couple drinks and hanging out there's the Pub in the giant shopping center. It has good chinese food and pitchers of beer, it's usually very chill. The bartenders are pretty cool too, and the owner is always passing out free shots. They have darts, a touch screen poker table, and bar top video game. There really isn't any other place for adults to just hang, besides the Mall. Arlington, or Falls Church if you don't want to venture too far. There's a bowling ally in Falls Church, and tons of things to do in Arlington. McLean is like the nightcap drink, you go out and everywhere else, and save McLean for the last stop before going home.
