As we can discuss on the phone on this topic 02, there are 4 Key Elements that has been worked out pretty clearly to move things forward with a small "core group" that must create to enable the next step forward.

These four elements , just to review are as follows;

Question: Is there a value added link between this proposal and "American Civil War" (1861- 1865) Fairfax "Between The Lines" Cultural Assets Conservation ?

One Answer: Yes. definitely. Much of the Civil War battles in Fairfax were fought near or at Creeks that are part of the "Fairfax County Watershed Restoration Plan" phase I (first five years now being implemented)

Please search "Watershed Fairfax County, Virginia" .

Have a look at this most comprehensive and amazing, no doubt expensive plan that Fairfax County have put together and working on community outreach now for the phase I, in a very open and citizens, neighbhorhoods, and geographic districts specific way.


But this plan, and the major creek restoration plans such as "Accotink" that gets it start at the highly urban neighborhood in the Provident District ( Linda Q. Smyth, Supervisor) & Fairfax City, does not address the "Civil War Cultural Asset Conservation" issues, yet.

Much information however is available about the American Civil War at the U.S. Library of Congress publically with "Millitary Maps" made in 1862 time frame just as the U.S. Army began to move into Fairfax County and establish millitary presence, amidst the Rebel positions of Robert E. Lee.

These two seperate topics so far, "Plan" and "Civil War Cultural Asset Conservation" will need to be "converges" as necessary to conserve "Hallowed Ground USA" along major creeks such as the Accotink that flows across three Fairfax Districts, from Provident, to Springfield, and then to Mt. Vernson/Lee before merging with the Potomac River near Ft Belvoir.
