GB - trust me, if the Bob Marshall saying on CNN that "sodomy is not a civil right" isn't enough to make us all look like backward hillbillies, nothing Allen said will make it any worse.

Read this - might make you feel better. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0611/56212.html

@Brian - oh no I gotcha on that. I'm just saying he's got to keep up with that if he wants to win. He's lucky the primary is this week and the other 3 are basically old fart and two teaparty ppl who just look like they'd shut down functioning Government first chance they got.

Like I said, I know he's "forward-thinking". Bio-tech is all the rage with him I know. But he's gonna still have to work HARD to shed the "good ole boy" image he is historically known for having if he wants to win in 2012. I'm sure he's sorry he said it - but things like not letting ppl film him anymore on the campaign trail http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/virginia-politics/post/democrats-say-allen-campaign-is-targeting-its-tracker/2011/09/28/gIQAivq24K_blog.html dont help me change my mind either about the "actions" of it all, either.

I want my Government to be open and transparent.

Of course I'm posting about you You think somebody missed that? lol You're the only one here who's (a) simple enough to actually believe that the 'macaca' crap was anything other than pure political BS, and (b) hypocritical enough to call someone else racist and then post a pic of Tyrone! lmao!

I never said anything of the sort re GA. The only reason for me posting was to call you out for your own obvious BS and hypocrisy. Yeah, GA is going to be reading this thread. /roll eyes

And if you were smarter, then you would have realized several posts back that I was just "macacaing" you like they did him. But you're not so...

Sure. And I've heard of macaroni, maracas, the macarena, and any number of other words all of which have a similar sound and the same level of relevance to that of "macaca."

Macaca is the genus name of the macaques, you idiot. Not a similar sounding word like macaroni, or macarana.

Uh huh. You're the one who fell for some mindless political BS and I'm the dolt? lmao

Now tell me with a straight face that you actually believe that, first, GA knew the specific epithet for a macaque and, second, that he actually intended to use it. And if you do I'll call you either a liar or an idiot as the case may be. In a word, bullshit. He made up a nonsense name. They went and found something racial that they could tie it to after the fact for political reasons. Period. End of story.

Seriously, I can respect somebody who might have some well-thought-out differences of opinion regarding various political issues but being a mindless partisan drone for stuff like this is just pitiful. As I said, I don't even like the guy but I'll still call bullshit on bullshit.

Haven't I embarrassed and abused your dumb azz enough in this thread already? lol

Of course he intended to say it to the kid. That wasn't the question. The question was about whether "macaca" meant anything and was an intended racial slur. But like a good brainless partisan slug you'll ignore that to make an argument that helps support your belief the BS that you were fed. Yumm ymmm. Eat up. There's still some room in that empty head of yours. lol

You're an idiot. The issue is your claim that there was some real racial aspect of his calling the kid "macaca."

If you'd actually do a little research other than just believing the manipulative political crap that you've been fed then you'd find any number of accounts of the real story behind the name being a modification of a nickname that they had for the kid as a known tracker for the Webb campaign (which actually was more correctly "mocaca"):

"August 16, 2006 12:10 PM | Permalink | Comments (104) | Share This

What does Macaca really mean? Three Virginia Republicans confirmed to the Hotline that several Allen campaign aides and advisers are telling allies that the word was a made-up, off-the-cuff neologism that these aides occasionally used to refer to tracker S.R. Sidarth well before last Saturday's videotaped encounter.
According to two Republicans who heard the word used, "macaca" was a mash-up of "Mohawk," referring to Sidarth's distinctive hair, and "caca," Spanish slang for excrement, or "shit."

Said one Republican close to the campaign: "In other words, he was a shit-head, an annoyance." Allen, according to Republicans, heard members of his traveling entourage and Virginia Republicans use the phrase and picked it up.

It was the first word that came to his mind when he spied Sidarth at the weekend's event, according to Republicans who have been briefed on Allen's version of the event."

You'd also find any number of articles and interviews with Webb's campaign manager, Jessica Vanden Berg, straight from the horse's mouth, which detail exactly how they manipulated the political narrative to be what they wanted it to be, including giving presentations at Progressive political strategy conferences e.g.:

"But how to spread the word? According to Vanden Berg, they chose to post the video on YouTube because it was free (simple enough). But before they tossed it out for the public to see, they’d already pitched the story to a Washington Post reporter, who wrote about it online on Monday. Only after the Post story appeared and the issue had been properly framed did the Webb folks send an email to their supporter list and to friendly bloggers. The fact that the video was on YouTube made it particularly easy to distribute, since bloggers could insert it directly into their pages, but it was the campaign’s promotional work that spread the word. And as the story developed, they constantly worked reporters and bloggers behind the scenes to shape the public discussion. The video had its REALLY significant effects when the mainstream media picked it up and showed it over and over — 400,000 people many have seen it online, but millions saw it on television. Webb’s people also had help from their opponent: Vanden Berg attributed much of the issue’s long shelf life to the Allen campaign’s very poor response — bad damage control killed them."

Now you can go back to whatever current manipulative political BS you'll be munching on today to tell you what to think.

it's great you continuously disagree with me, yet every single example you show me BACKS UP MY POINT! That it is Allens ACTIONS with this whole incident that are questionable.

You telling me I should vote for a guy that would do that to a kid just cause he feels the kid's s shithead?

And I wont even point out the fact even in yr quote, that they say he picked that name to call the kid just cause of what he LOOKED LIKE: macaca" was a mash-up of "Mohawk," referring to Sidarth's distinctive hair, and "caca," Spanish slang for excrement, or "shit." meaning if he looked different, Allen wouldnt have used that word........................

The words "oreo" and "banana" arent racist either................but use it in the "right" way, and they most certainly can be. Stay close-minded on that tip if you want to be......................

Again, you're an idiot. I don't care about Allen's ACTIONS. I don't care whether you or anyone else votes for him. The only reason that his actions became an issue was that it was manipulated to be racially motivated. As you claimed earlier, "macaca" being a well-known racial slur" versus pure and simple manipulated political bullshit.

So you're saying that Sidart looked like a shit head? lol Insulting someone because of the way that they look is not necessarily racial. For example, I can confidently call you a shit head without even knowing your race or what you look like. lmao

But in any case, you at least now appear to be tacitly admitting that the ridiculous macaca = macaque = racial slur BS was just that. Thanks, that was my only point.

George Allen makes a big deal of coming from football family. Maybe he should just go coach at some high school in Alabama or someplace where the Confederate flag and noose will make him a hero?

Count me as a vote for Allen. The entire Macacca incident is long over and we need as many conservative lawmakers as we can get. The Socialist agenda being shoved down our throats has got to be stopped. There will be plenty of takers voting for others, the providers need to get behind the Conservative candidates.

My point was that anyone who has ever spent any time in SE Asia (too many of us have) or was otherwise reasonably educated about biological research animals know, and have for decades, that "macaca" means "monkey." Pure and simple. The day I saw that clip I told my wife "holy sh't he just called that dark-skinned guy a monkey!!" Looked pretty racist to me.

The fact that it took some people in the press a while to figure that out (a few jumped on it right away) just reflects badly on the press. That didn't surprise me a bit, given how lame today's press tends to be.

But you, seem to have swallowed (hook, line, and sinker) the Allen camp's after-the-fact BS about how he was referring to the kid's hair.

And you characterize this (and me) as a political issue? I was 50/50 about voting for him before that. No, it's racism.

Hard to have a reasonable discussion with a conspiracy theorist.

You're hopeless. As above, search for Jessica Vanden Berg. I posted HER OWN WORDS talking about how they'd manipulated the story. lol

But yeah, lots of voters in NoVA (including Allen himself) have worked with monkeys in SE Asia and know the genus for macaque. And I'm the one who swallowed something? lmao

The article, from the day after, that they coordinated is here:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/14/AR2006081400589.html

Paraphrasing Allen, welcome to politics in America macaca.

And for the record, you didn't see the vid until after they'd already prepped the narrative for the Post and Not Larry Sabato and Tribbett. By the time you saw the vid, by design, the story had already been told.

This is what you said:

"My point was that anyone who has ever spent any time in SE Asia (too many of us have) or was otherwise reasonably educated about biological research animals know, and have for decades, that "macaca" means "monkey." Pure and simple. The day I saw that clip I told my wife "holy sh't he just called that dark-skinned guy a monkey!!" Looked pretty racist to me."

Which, in other words, isn't GA and might be .001% of anyone who saw the story. It is not, as you implied in various posts, any sort of well-known racial slur. But, rather than recognizing that and addressing the substance of the matter, you want to key on my passing use of the word working. lol Pitiful.

Oh yeah, and as above, you and everyone else only saw the vid after the story had been presented in the way that Vanden Berg wanted as a "racist" comment. Likewise, the specific spelling on which you base your entire argument only came about because Vanden Berg cast it that way for the Post. Being spoken and not written, it could have been (and was) interpreted and spelled in any number of other ways which would not have led to macaca = macaque. That, again, was intentional and by design. And if you really want to be technical about it, the actual pronunciation of "macaca" would be muh-'käk-uh (or more strictly ma-'kake-a),

No, this isn't "conspiracy." It's based on Vanden Berg's and other's in the Webb campaign's own accounts. Which you could easily find on your own if you actually crawled out of your little ideological bubble. No, big secret. They're proud of the fact that they played it politically to their advantage and how they did it. As I mentioned earlier, she gives presentations to political strategy groups detailing the circumstances. But I know that's a scary thing for folks like you to go out and do without someone to hold your hand and tell you what you should think. lol

One down, one to go.

Allen wins by a landslide.

I'd say he won by a noose instead of a landslide. A vote for George Allen is a vote for the Ku Klux Klan.

The Klan would be on the Democrat side. Remember? Guess not.

Typical George Allen supporters, they are auctioning off the car to raise money for Allen's campaign.

George Allen will be burning a cross and handing out nooses at prayer time at the Dar al Hijra mosque in Falls Church tonight. He will also be offering free pork BBQ and answering questions about his policies and the details of Klan membership.

He will be offering pamphlets proving that the Prophet Mohammad was nothing more than a camel trader and counterfeiter.
