Man arrested for fatal hit-and-run in Ocean City

WASHINGTON - A 30-year-old Virginia man has been arrested and charged in the hit-and-run death of a 22-year-old man in Ocean City, Md.
Ocean City police say Mathew Jude Cheswick of Cooksville, Md., was crossing Coastal Highway at about 1:20 a.m. Monday when an Isuzu Rodeo driven by Diogo Miller Facchini hit him.
Cheswick was pronounced dead at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.
Police say Facchini -- of Lorton, Va. -- continued driving after hitting Cheswick, but witnesses followed his car and he was later apprehended. He was arrested and charged with homicide by a motor vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a fatal collision, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol and other traffic-related charges.
Police say Facchini also was speeding when he hit Cheswick. He was awaiting a court appearance.

the only Fairfax County Sheriff's Deputy to be killed in the line of duty in this county died at the hands of an Italian immigrant in Lorton.
When the killer was lynched by locals the next day, it created quite an international incident.
course this happened in 1905 so a bit has changed since then lol

i know his name appears to be italian but i think he's actually brazilian - i went to high school with him. his parents are from brazil.

I went to high school with him too, he was from brazil. What he did was awful, and I feel bad for the victims family. Cant say i am surprised that he did something like that though.
