A man wanted for multiple felonies across several Washington area jurisdictions escaped Fairfax County police officers at Tysons Corner Mall on Saturday, prompting the agency to ask residents for information and offer a reward for help.

Officers have characterized the fugitive, Todd Michael Corrado, 39, as "armed and dangerous," according to a statement released by the department Monday.

Police say he is often seen around Annandale and Alexandria in addition to Tysons Corner.

Corrado was spotted browsing the Barnes & Noble Bookstore in the mall around 12:30 p.m. Saturday by the Fairfax County Police Fugitive Unit, prompting a footchase through the mall and eventually an upper-level parking garage.

It ended near the loading docks near a service entrance, police said, where Corrado escaped.

Warrants from multiple jurisdictions have been issued for Corrado's arrest, charging him with felony larceny, felony speed to elude, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, driving while intoxicated, burglary, auto theft and numerous drug charges, among others.

Corrado is described as a white man with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall and between 160 and 180 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477, e-mail at www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org or text “TIP187” plus your message to CRIMES/274637 or call Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.

Police say Todd Michael Corrado, 39, is armed and dangerous and are seeking any information leading to his whereabouts. Credit FCPD

Out-of-shape, donut-eater just couldn't keep up, and another one gets away! Fairfax's Finest = Fail.

I've often wondered when I read "...chased on foot, got away..." if this was due to the officer(s) simply being totally out of shape. I continue to not understand why patrol officers (as opposed to desk-jockeys) are not required to be in the absolute tip of the top physical condition.

I think that's the case. I once saw a foot chase in Fairfax County over near George Mason. The perp was easily able to outrun the police, because both of the officers were out of shape. One of them was so fat he was almost round!

However, they definitely could identify you as a FFX idiot.

Not saying he's cool but witnessing a guy outrunning the law in a shopping mall, wow. Just to see the looks on fellow shoppers would be priceless. By the way this guy is Italian. Don't know if that's considered white, just like being jewish isn't.

It was said he ran past a Dunkin Donuts delivery truck into a store through the loading dock entrance, and he was not pursued further into the store.

Does "felony speed to elude" mean he beat them running across the mall?

How the heck do police officers lose a guy running in the mall?

Shades of Doctor Richard Kimball. He ran outside the parking lot and disapppeared into an flash mob that had spontaneously formed outside parking garage E. It's thought that the fugitive may have had help in staging his escape.

I took the FFX County Police entrance exam after graduating college.

I believe at the time there was something of an obstacle course that had to be completed within 90sec-2min to determine the phyiscal fitness qualification.

Someone asked why there wasn't a timed 5k or mile run.

The answer was something like "...if an officer has to pursue suspect on foot, we are trained to radio ahead to the next unit"

Really??

cause, you see they arent superhuman, only human...............

We should base our police force STRICTLY on physical prowess - intelligence should not AT ALL be a factor, and metal stability shouldnt enter the equation at all!!

BRUTE STRENGTH IS ALL THAT MATTERS FOR A POLICE OFFICER

is that how some of y'all think?

or even better! Maybe Govt should insure that only the strong are cops. Since this guy can outrun current cops, maybe you want HIM on yr police force, right?

o_0

just wondering where some of y'all are going with yr line of thinking, is all...........

Cops are only human, y'know...........kinda the way I like it cause the idea that all cops are superhuman.................well someone tried that idea back in 1939 I think :(

i agree with gordon. i think cops should be in good shape, but super athletic shape? my question to all the posters on here who think that they should be super human, are you over weight and out of shape? enough said. cops use their numbers to take down the criminals, along with their cool toys. yeah, the criminals might out run them, but out running motorola and 10 other cops, helocopter, and a k9 is not so easy to do. i have seen some cops who are severly overweight, but you cant fire them for that if they passed the tests to get hired and completed the academy. if they get overweight after that, they cant be fired if they are still able to do their job. if they did get fired, thats whats called descrimination, and we all know what happens when that occurs. someone gets their butts sued.
