Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
A man confronted a Madison High School student walking near the school Wednesday afternoon to ask if she "wanted a boyfriend," school officials said.
According to school administrators, the student was walking between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Nutley Street and Windover Avenue NW when a man called to her from across the street.
The stranger was described as a white male between 30 and 40 years old.
The student did not respond to the man and continued on her way, Principal Mark Merrell said in an email sent to parents Thursday. He did not follow her or attempt to engage with her again.
Fairfax County Police and Fairfax County Public Schools security are aware of the incident, said Merrell, who also noted he would discuss the issue with students during Friday's morning announcements.
FCPD did not return a call seeking comment.
.

The attention they're seeking isn't from creepy middle aged men who look like their fathers.

Some may argue that a high school girl wearing skimpy clothing in order to garner attention gets the free pass in this instance, versus the aging creeper well into his adulthood, whose practical judgment should far exceed that of an attention-seeking adolescent.
granted, "hey--wanna date/fuck me, baby?" is a problematic way to approach complete strangers of any age group.
Really, he plans to discuss it during morning announcements? First of all, you can't discuss during announcements. Second, my son, a junior, has yet to have a teacher who turns the announcements on regularly, even though there is a bell that rings to signify the end of the instructional period and the time to turn on the TV for announcements. Good luck reaching the students that way.
