Army at old Lorton jail

did anyone see the army working with the fire department at the old lorton prison? does anyone know what they were doing there?

yea, i drove by and saw that. they had army uniforms on with firefighter hats..

sounds like the fire department unit of the Army was doing some training. i drove by and saw the same thing.

Back when Lorton was still a run down building I know the Marines used to do training inside of there. There was a video on youtube of them storming the different rooms and such. This, of course, was back before it was turned into the Workhouse Art Center

Fort Belvoir's FD is all civilian.



It was probably the 911th Engineer Company, they specialize in search and rescue and drill with civilian counterparts.

The Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue Team uses the old jail for training and so does the 911th out of Fort Belvoir. Fire Department uses it for collapses and search training and so does the Army. Look up "Capital Shield" and see pictures from old training sesions.

CERT uses the place too, not Virginia Defenes People.
