I hate to sound like a pessimist, but good luck with that. I had a bunch of computers in the past year that I tried to donate and I came up empty. So many non-profits became dumping grounds for broken, badly out-of-date and otherwise useless computers that they stopped taking donations entirely. It became their problem to dispose of this stuff and they lacked both the manpower and budget since it was rarely a cost-free disposal.
I thought that Catholic Charities might be a good starting point, but they told me what I am sharing with you. You might want to try listing it for free on Craigslist or Freecycle, but it is unlikely that you are going to find an organization which will give you a tax deduction. The exception might be if you left it for a Purple Heart of Amvets pickup. You could also try to leave it with the Salvation Army thrift store in Annandale.
If you belong to Costco you can try their recycling program. Again, you won't get a tax deduction, but will know that it is being disposed of properly. The website for more information is:
