Anyone know what's with the abandoned building off of Phoenix road? (Its off of jermantown)
You can see them off of 66. Went back there the other day
There is a few houses and some workshop/garage structures. My over all impression was that some of the land used to be used as a staging area for snow plows and salt storage for 66 clean up but I really don't know. Any info would be appreciated.

I see no Phoenix Road off Jermantown. I have been down Phoenix Drive if that is what you are talking about, and nothing there is abandoned.

I'm told that the property is in "limbo" w/issues about zoning. Last business there was a moving company (thru mid 2000s). I'm told if the owners sell off then the land switches from unrestricted use to residential...

Just checked the map its Phoenix drive. Sorry. Off of jermantown near oakton road (co rd 664). If your looking at with Google maps/earth Phoenix drive parallels 66 and is the road just before oakton road. Its this long paved road with a bunch of no parking signs. Just through the gate at the end are the buildings I mentioned.

just wanna say there are definitely abandoned buildings back there. Place is smashed out and vandalized to hell but there are houses and some sorta garage service shop looking things, even remnants of a few old gas pumps. Not able to find any info in regards to the land being for sale or history or zoning issues using the standard Google search.

Isn't a trucking/moving company located there? Or is that further down 66?

any idea when they moved out of there? By the looks of the remaining structers I didnt think anyone would have been there in awhile. There are several leveled out concrete slabs where I suppose some sort of large steel framed warehouse type buildings once sat.

did the moving company that was there for decades not own the property?

where did they move or go out of business?

Senior moment here. I've forgotten the name of the moving company.

I recently went here and a few things have changed. Police drive to the end of Phoenix Drive to check out if anyone is there not infrequently and there are now multiple no trespassing signs on the fence at the end of the street. Also some of the entrances to the buildings are boarded up with plywood but you can still get in all of them, though you need to climb in a window to get into the barn/barn-like structure. It's still a really cool place but just keep in mind that you are trespassing and might get caught but you probably won't get arrested for it as long as all you're doing is looking, I wasn't arrested.
I got scared off by the policeman, who was actually pretty chill about it by the way, but I still wanted to return so I tried to find who owns it to get their permission to go back. So after a couple hours of research I found out using a combination of google maps and the fairfax county government website's real estate assessments and taxes that the houses are technically on Marseilles Drive and are owned by FCW Limited Liability Company. So there's no way they're gonna give anyone permission to go there.

I don't know what mile marker it is.
It's where Jermantown road goes over 66. Between 123 & 50 on the west bound side.
That is a cool video, wished he had explored the property more.
