Agreed.

I think Peyton is damaged goods.

If he could return at 100% I don't think the Colts would be dumping him.

LOL, typical Redskins fans.

You guys will be lucky to ever have a QB as good as Manning. This area hasn't seen a talent like him on the Redskins for a long long time.

I bet you were all excited when McNabb came on board. :-)

Can we start a Petition to get rid of Snyder? I mean its VERY obvious that he is the problem here!

There would be nothing more entertaining than if Snyder traded a bunch of draft picks for Peyton Manning, who then never plays a game in a Redskins uniform due to his neck injury recovery "hitting a snag". Peyton gets paid for one more season, then retires a Colt. The Redskins get set back another 5 years.

is laughing all the way to the bank, sadly, for true skidz fans. he's obviously a great businessman ( or exceedingly lucky to be in the right industry, at the right time, with the right model ), otherwise the little midget wouldnt have been able to buy the the team when he was what, 33 years old?

it's so far beyond comical watching his running of the team since he took over that, i just dont know what to type. how he could keep employed, in the capacity he was, that dumb as a box of rocks cerrato will go down in redskin lore as one of the greatest mysteries ever.

manning, if 100% healthy, would win games for the team, possibly getting them into and deep in the playoffs. but it would be the proverbial band-aid on a bullet wound. like 90% of all the other danny boi player/coach moves since owning the team.

what really hurts, as a caps/hockey fan, is that i see teddy log-in walking down the same path. now that verizon sells out every game, and his group owns the whole shooting match since crusty abe passed on, he's seeing the $$$$ add up.

the caps fan base, unlike that of the skidz, are a fickle lot. overnight teddy could see a half full arena every game unless the the flyers/rangers/deadthings/bettguins come to town. it'd be shades of 2004 all over again before he knows what happened.

They aren't getting RGIII unless they mortgage the farm. And if they do that, they won't have a chance in hell, anyway.

I really think if the Shannies enter 2012 with Grossman as the starter, they will be on thin ice with Snyder. You know the first time Grossman has one of his horrific turnover performances, fans will be screaming for the Shannies' heads. I think they would do better to start a 3rd Round project QB than to go with Rex.

If they go with Grossman again, I can seriously see them imploding down to a 2-14 team.

They really might not have a choice at this point. This QB draft got thin fast when Barkley went back to school leaving no other QB worthy of their first pick and probably not even of their second pick. Flynn will cost to much and is really overrated and RG3 is hard to get. Rex is Kyles boy and hell stick with him over a project. Starting Rex would be the greatest way of summing up how the Shannahans coach, they know better than anyone else and they would rather lose doing it their way than make adjustments to try and win

Brian Griese was a 3rd rounder who went to a Pro Bowl under Shanny. I could definitely see Shanny trying to repeat that feat.

I know its boring shit but draft some offensive lineman and shore up the defensive backfield and the linebacking corps is aging.
draft to fix this shit up ride grossman for another couple years.
the one thing shannahan seems capable of doing personnel wise is finding decent running backs.
then use some draft choices and cash to get a quality quarterback

Damaged goods and at his age, not much left in the tank. If the Skins had what the Cardinals had a few years ago with Warner, a kick ass O Line and receiver studs, then it might make sense. But as they suck, nope.

Exactly. Lets say Peyton is back to 100% and had ~4 good years left. What is he going to do in year 1? Run for his life and throw the ball to Chris Cooley?

The O-line isn't good. There is no #1 receiver, Moss is a #2 on most teams. They won't keep Davis and Cooley, one will be gone. RB might be decent, we'll see.

If Peyton wanted to do a last gasp tour with another team to try an win another ring, he'd probably be better off going to a number of other teams. The Redskins aren't just "one quarterback" away from being a contender. A healthy Peyton on the Jets, Dolphins, or Cardinals though, and he could be the push over the top they need.

Nevermind the fact that I wouldn't want to deal with the Shanahans if I were him. Peyton Manning isn't going to bow down to Kyle Shanahan like they wanted McNabb to. He probably wouldn't bow down to Mike Shanahan either. If you want Peyton, you are going to have to be prepared to let him do his thing. Washington with the Shanahans is not that place.

Hi,

I am from the future and I have bad news for Redskins fans.
I am not allowed to get into details, but after some bad draft picks and a coaching change, the little fellow with the bald spot will find it impossible not to interfere with professionals, and the record remains essentially the same.
At least you don't have to change any plans for playoff games.
OK......there is one playoff game in the next few years.

It is/will be funny how the new president didn't/won't know that Washington has a football team.

Two people "close" to the Manning family tell Howard Eskin of 94 WIP Philadelphia that Peyton Manning is "very likely" to be a Redskin in 2012.

Eskin is a Philly reporter with a relatively spotty reporting track record, but his information is at least interesting. He refers to the Redskins' interest in "other QBs" as a "smokescreen," and indicates that Mike Shanahan's priority will be to acquire Peyton Manning. On Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Redskins have interest in both Matt Flynn and Kyle Orton.

How many times does the Redskins have to continue overpaying washed up veteran players who are already passed their prime? Ever year, we bring on another useless veteran player to watch nothing happen. We just played this game with McNabb... nothing. Now, we're considering repeating the same shit with Peyton?

Snyder is the issue - he needs to sell the team.

If Manning brings what talent he has left (possibly a lot) to this Redskins franchise I'll lose respect for him. Why take a good career and end it with tons of sacks?

i don't understand why a Skins fan wouldn't want to take a chance with one of the greatest QB's of all time???

they said Montana was washed up. i think he had a major knee injury that officially ended his career with the Niners. but the Chiefs took him and made back to back playoff appearances.

of course, i also believe no matter if we do sign Peyton or not, we should draft a QB of the future ASAP. preferrably this year. signing Peyton DOES NOT take our draft picks away, so we can keep rebuilding under Shanny. OL, secondary, LBers etc.

i fail to see what would be the downside of giving him a tryout and entirely incentive laden contract. GO SKINS

Agreed. They'll need to spend their top 3-4 draft picks on the o-line.

There actually has been quite a bit of talent on the Redskins, but the problem is the poisonous atmosphere created by an ignorant owner.

How could they? Isray thinks he paid Peyton $26 million to sit on his ass last year. Peyton thinks he is more responsible for the success of the Colts than Isray is. Both are right.

If I were Peyton, I'd hop on board that Snyder Money Train (TM) and pull down a ton of that sweet sweet Danny Boy cash before riding off into the retirement sunset.

Washington is the perfect place for an end-of-life player to get paid for doing nothing. Hell, that its reputation! May as well milk it for all it's worth!

You know Danny Boy is having a fucking coronary thinking of all those Manning jerseys and hanging out in the owner's suite smoking cigars and drinking scotch with Peyton.

Haha, Peyton on one side, Tom Cruise on the other. It's a school boy's dream. Of course, Danny Boy is just the school boy to make it happen. It doesn't make a difference what the fans want, all that matters is what Danny Boy wants. And WTL is right, the jersey printing groups will be working overtime if Peyton signs on. There are plenty of folks out there that will be dying to hop on the bandwagon yet again and celebrate the 2012 off-season championship Redskins!

Forget offseason champs. It would be a shit ton of fun to watch one of the greatest players of all time pull on the jersey of my favorite team. I still want to see a QB this year tho. Tannehill maybe? And a right tackle to go with Silverback.
