Furnace repair in Fairfax/Vienna

Anyone recommend a good furnace repair/tuneup service. I do not get good vibes reading reviews about either Cropp Metcalf or Michael and Son, and prefer an entity that does good work and doesn't charge simply to recoup the cost of their WTOP ads.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Popes Heating and Air. I had a problem boiler that they could only fix. Terry is fantastic, I'd ask for him.

Instead of using Angie's List, recommend you use Washington CheckBook Magazine.

http://www.checkbook.org/

When you subscribe, you're given access to their on-line ratings and reviews which list all of the plumbers servicing Fairfax County along with consumer reviews and a grade on a scale of 1-100 for providing "superior service."

Subscription price is $34 / 2 years - a small price to pay.

I used Shaw Services to replace my water heater. They came in the middle for the estimate price but they were polite and knew what my pproblem was.

They did a great job. They even had to do some extra work and did not charge me.

We used Cropp Metcalf for several years but switched about 2 years ago to Ace Heating & A/C and have been very happy with the service, pricing, and knowledge of the technicians. We live in the Fairfax/Vienna area.

Service Experts Furnace Repair technicians are prepared for any type of heating repair, whether your furnace is electric, gas, duel fuel, heat pump, oil or a boiler. They have all the tools and knowledge needed to get the job done right the first time. Think of the repair process as though their technician were skilled doctor, working tirelessly to diagnose and provide the proper prescription for your home’s comfort problem. What you should know when you suspect your furnace needs a repair service: If you notice a strong gas smell, call Service Experts right away.
If your furnace isn’t running, check the emergency shut off and your breaker. Switch them off, then on again. If the system still doesn’t work, call Furnace Repair service to determine the source of the problem.

My personal opinion of Service Experts is very, very bad. I will not do business with them. This is just my opinion.

@ Freezing

My single family home with 2 HVAC zones was built in 1993. I have owned it since 2000. In 2011 the bedroom level electric furnace/AC was on its last legs. Everything mechanical has a shelf life. It was time.

Tom Muse of Vienna gave me expert advice to supplement my research. Sold me a unit that has given me excellent service for 4 years, installed it. The price was reasonable, given his justifiably excellent reviews, priced at market.

He led the install crew. He and his techs are competent and honest. I give him the highest recommendation. I would call him again.

People who sell good stuff and are highly skilled don't low ball their equipment or their skills. They don't need to. One gets what one pays for.

michael and sons is getting (likely free, due to political ties) advertising at DMV. though its' better than a blank screen.

fx co gov democrats allow one white guy with certs to run a business of sending untrained and illegal mexicans to do ANY KIND of work - meaning the business must only have "employed" someone with a cert - accourding to fx co gov democrats

(if you think that means you might be in danger of having an idiot work on your furnace and fx co gov is enabling it: your right)

anyone who runs such a shop - of using untrained illegals for labor on a business dressed up as legitimate - probably cheated on the certs or has fake certs or only has loose ties with someone having real classes and apprenticeship

What's your purpose here? It appears to be nothing more than to butt in.
