FFXU: I need a suggestion for a decent auto insurer/homeowners combo. Just got screwed by my existing carrier.

Allstate has great service but are a little pricey. State Farm perhaps?

We have State Farm but I heard they drop you after two claims. We have never made a claim. Since we have everything with them I am too lazy to change. I heard they denied a lot of claims down south after the last storm.

If you qualify, USAA is top-notch in my book. The only carrier I've ever had for both auto and home.

The best insurance companies most people have never heard of because they don't waste money on horsehit like gekkos and Flo on TV.

They are not the cheapest either, but when you have a loss you don't have to sue to force them to honor the policy.

Amica and Chubb Group are two excellent insurers

That's bull. I know a lot of people with State Farm, myself included, none have ever been dropped, and a few have had a number of claims, even close together.

As for the insurers denying claims, I heard there were a lot of insurance companies that supposedly denied claims. The numerous natural disasters of recent years have wreaked havoc on the insurance companies.

I recommend State Farm, but find an agent you can get along with. Some of them are total idiots. (no matter which company you choose)

I have no personal experience with State Farm, but the reason why I have stayed away from them is it was reported from their customers in my area of the county that State Farm was difficult to work with in getting claims processed following a massive damaging hailstorm in the late 1990's in western Fairfax County. Allstate went a long way helping us out and I was very pleased with the process.

The Matt Stone Agency with Nationwide Insurance on Main Street-they've been taking GREAT care of me for years. The relationship with their clients come first and foremost. When you need them, they really ARE on your side! I know, its crazy! :]

We just swiched our homeowners & auto to Nationwide. We had our homeowner w/ Kemper, auto was w/ Statefarm. We now have more coverage on the house for less then we paid for both auto and house. ...Winning

Mine just got raised too. Fidelity upped it 90 or so bucks. I switched to Travellers for 50 less same coverage.

Actually farmers hooked me up for the home insurance. Geico is still cheapest for the car. Check out farmers for home I got a lot of quotes and they are by far the cheapest.
