"n" signs around town????
Posted by: SE ()
Date: February 25, 2008 05:02PM

Has anyone noticed these white signs around town? What are they for?? There are a few in the medians on Stone Rd in Centreville, some in Fair Lakes- and I live in Gainesville and they are out there too (On Rt 29 & Heathcote Blvd)....??? I tried to google them but didn't find anything. They are white signs with a lower case "n" on them, nothing else...no website, phone number, nothing...just an "n"....???? They are driving me nuts????

The n stands for nigger. The few whites living in those areas (London Towne, Greenbriar, Gaysville, put them up to get back at the "hispanohablantes" or the black peopels who jack their radios, tires, and lawn mower gas tanks

I figured they were some kind of upcoming restaurant promotion or something... getting the logo in peoples' heads. It is not a "mean" 'n' by any means, rather a peaceful lower-case 'n'.

Not Ron Paul, but it could be Nader... if you check out his Web site, the green on the site reminds me of the green on the N signs.

http://www.votenader.org/index.html

And I wouldn't be surprised to see a Nader/Paul ticket.

I highly doubt it. The colors are nowhere similar (no green in site on that page), and New Life places signs with the logo they already have.

Again, usually when you have an ad campaign the logos on the marketing materials match that on the product, otherwise what good is it for brand recognition? Nitro and the 'n' signs don't look a thing alike.

The page title is "The N || To Centreville and... well honestly, beyond" so I don't think it is a Nader thing. Keywords on the page are

"n, what is that n, n signs, centreville, chantilly, haymarket, fairfax, vienna, mclean, virginia, northern virginia"

so it's definitely a NoVA thing.

newlife4me.com has a different registrant, its contacts seem legit, and the domain server is different. Server IPs are different too... whatisthatn.com is at rackspace and newlife4me is hosted at some outfit in Ashburn. Seems to me they would likely use the same provider. That isn't a certainty but the evidence points away from those being the same outfit.

It seems to be very Northern Virginia focused. I think the "n" might stand for some community outreach concept. I saw a few n signs today when I was running errands in Chantilly. They were by Willard rd off 28. Maybe it is a theme for a happier Northern Virginia. We certainly could use it in rush hour traffic!

It could be them, nothing proves otherwise. There is stuff that points away from them, but a rebranding or marketing campaign is entirely possible.

If it is for a church it begs the question, is there a new church being built somewhere near Centreville that is just about done?

I have seen the signs around Centreville and 28. I know they were building that big restaurant over there off of 29. Is that open yet? Is the "n" for that place?

As for the wireless thing, seems kind of odd that you would be doing a guerrilla marketing campaign for something so techie.

I am a member of New Life and I love it. I went in to that church four years ago and I was determined to go once hate it and never come back. It didn't work that way and I am so grateful. We are a really fun church and I have some truly loving friends because of New Life. To say it is another normal church is completely wrong. Check out whiteboydj.com and watch the baby got book video or search for it on youtube. The person who made that video used to be a preacher at our church. I think that video best portrays the fun we have. Hopefully I will see some of you soon.

Another attempt to repackage the same ol'religous propaganda in a new box.

Baby's got Book video..lol. So in order to get the Word out, the church has tied it to a music video that was originally anything but Christian. I bet the church is just hoping the new young hipsters that they are recuiting wont be old enough to remember to original video.

Making religion cool and hip, doesnt make it any less wrong.

" We are a really fun church and I have some truly loving friends because of New Life"

If you dont bring God into this, wouldnt that just make it a nice place to hang out with friends, and did their `faith' make them truly loving people or were they just that way to start with.

Sorry NLCC not to pick on you personally..Im just one of the resident athiests.

I used to be right there with you "Take A Stand", but eventually something happens in life that requires more grace than people can provide. You have the choice to see and accept God's grace or to brave it on your own. I am so thankful to have chosen God. Lucky for me I was able to meet other people who have made the same choice at New Life. Yeah, they try to make religion cool and hip, but sometimes that how you reach people who can't hear the message any other way. It allowed me to hear it. I figure... I've tried being an athiest, and that only brought me fear, pain, and sadness. Now, I have a beautiful family, amazing friends, hope, forgiveness, happiness, faith in something beyond myself, and eternal life. I'm kind of thinking I made a good choice. I hope you stop by and see what we're all about. We love athiests too!

Hey Take a Stand. The reason I say they are some of my closest friends is far more than the social. When I have had some of the hardest things in my life going on they were there for me. They prayed for me, prayed with me, offered comfort and they offered their time. They also followed through with that offer! It is deeply about God but it is also about me walking in and having multiple people greeting me by name and actually care how I am doing. I guess what I am saying and why this matters so much to me, is it is really easy to have a church and to have a preacher try to shove Jesus down your throat and condemn you for either not having Jesus or having Jesus and still messing up. New Life has never been like that to me. The people matter because the building is just a building, but how the people act is a representation of what they believe.

ingenious, i now have a marketing plan for my low capital, low risk, and quite addictive opportunity for a business.
too bad ive failed to notice em.

irreverent to the topic - (moved)
-----------------------------------
ive programmed myself to block out most things akin to advertisements on roads. Its quite easy, important roadsigns aren't flashy.
I pay attention to driving, and the erratic driving of all around; those reading billboards and little signs on the side of the road... the ones slamming their breaks on ice, not to mention people trying to text while driving.

while you are all crackin on churches...
religion is just an ornate cane, for people too weathered, beaten, numbed or stoned to keep going on by themselves.

An opiate of the masses.

Not a bad thing, and quite possibly a good thing if not taken to the point of ignorance, and destruction. Think of it as way to help them through the hard times. As long as they keep the ability to think for themselves, and better their quality of living.

We all have something similar, were all drug addicts.

Our drugs may be very different. ranging from Television to Crack. various alkaloids, Phenethylamines,... Tryptamines,

Heroin caffeine, & Nicotine. Dare I say the internet... information. (music, risk,...)

Never smoked? Ever eat a tomato, potato, eggplant or green pepper. Youve had nicotine.

Its all subjective, but we all have our own personal drug.
Maybe you were self medicating your case of curiosity... feeding your need for useless information thats, in all intentions forced to you.

When your legs broken, it sure helps to have a cane.

If you made it this far, you just listened a "drunken ramble" #421
