Wohooo! Bring it on Lifetime!

Lifetime Fitness, the chain of health clubs with 91 locations, has filed an application with the Fairfax County Board of Zoning Appeals to permit a health club to be built at the terminus of Business Center Drive on Reston.

The board of zoning appeals will discuss the matter at its meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

The 11-acre site is located off of Sunset Hills Road near the Reston Post Office. The land is currently zoned I-3 and I-4, for industrial use.

The branch proposed for Reston would have indoor and outdoor pools, an indoor rock climbing wall, an indoor basketball court, as well as weights, cardio equipment and classrooms.

It will be conveniently located just off the W&OD bike trial.

Maybe it'll keep this group away from the Town Center-

I find the plans to be lavish and possibly quite expensive. Has anyone notified Sharon Bulova to see it they can include section 8 memberships.

Any updates on the Reston Lifetime Fitness? I heard it was supposed to open this year.

It's ironic that they're bulldozing some decent mountain bike trails to put up a gym.

I think it's been a dormant office park. It's going to be real bad for traffic. It's at the very end of the commercial development on that side of Reston.

With a monthly fee of $110 per person, it is unlikely to get many of the local cyclists for long. Not even a price cut for a couple, $220/ month. That's outrageous.

Not if you're Reston yuppie or live in close by Oakton. That's not much move than other gyms in the area. Plus you're working out with an upper class of clientele. A lot cheaper than the local Reston country club that just got bought out.

Good point. If you want to workout and network with high income people, this is the gym to join. Even if it is a stretch for your budget you can make some very profitable acquaintances here that can pay off later down the road.

Long-time dormant in appearance for good reason. Guarded fed building on that drive surrounded by buildings housing support contractors that aren't happy with this commercial gym that's invading their space.

Didn't the RA just bring back the Browns Chapel tennis and fitness facility again?
