Republican To Stop Sales Of Liquor and Beer On Sundays
Posted by: Whoia ()

I just heard the new VA Republican Senate is sponsoring a bill to take Virginia back to the old days when liquir was not allowed to be sold on Sundays.

Come on? No beers sales for Football, Hockey and Baseball on Sundays. I'm already starting to dread the new republican communist VA state.

Even if this is true, there's no chance of it happening.

I like how the "new" republican VA senate wants to cancel liquor sales on Sunday but the link goes to the legislative minutes from January and February of this year.

OP = epic fail.

I know this is a troll post but if such a thing was ever introduced the liquor industry would be dropping off sacks of cash to those Republican State Senators. The bill would die immediately.

UNLESS, proponents of a Sunday ban on alcohol sales drop off BIGGER sacks of cash.

Government in this country is for sale to the highest bidder. Democrats are crooks too but Republicans have elevated this type of corruption to an art form.

There was no legislation offered this session trying to reinstate the blue laws. The only reference I can even find on LIS or Richmond Sunlight is to a bill from 2001 that would allow a referendum in certain areas on whether to sell booze on Sundays, and that was patroned by a Democrat.

Government isn't for sale to the highest bidder. As you noted, fig, both sides on most issues have big sacks of cash so whichever way one votes, one can rest assured they'll get PAC support from whoever liked what was done. That's not corruption. Nobody with half a brain is going to sell their vote for a campaign contribution. The ones who don't have half a brain do it and end up going to jail.

Yeah right.

There's one law I'd love to see (but never will).

My dream law would require all politicians to dress like NASCAR drivers. One look and you'd know who owns them!

Leftwingers tend to be pathological liars, which explains Obama and the troll who started this thread.

The state has a monoploy on liquor sales. There is no way they want to cut revenue for any reason. Politicians are drawn to money like moths to a flame.

No, to deny such is to not be a semi-literate cynic who has never been involved in government at any level.

There are bad seeds out there, and they get caught. There's a pretty big incentive to catch them.

But the bottom line is that the voters are the ones that count at the end of the day and all of the money in the world won't protect you if you make a stupid decision or really screw up. Nobody can just walk in and buy whatever they want.

If that were the case, Carly Fiorina would be a Senator, the labor movement would never lose an election, and Wall Street would be completely deregulated. Money can't buy everything. That's not ignorance - it's reality.
