What was y'all's favorite menu when you went to school in Fairfax?
I always loved the spaghetti with meat sauce. The worst entree had to be the dry-ass hot dogs. I also liked it better when the milk was sold in mini 1/2-pint cartons compared to the plastic bags that you had to jam a straw into (they switched sometime around 1993).
dude remember breakfast? they had the pancake wrapped around a sausage fuck yeah that was good...i loved the chalupas and if you went to a shitty school u got milk in a pouch bag thing hahahahhhhaahahahhaa
Are pizza's still only served on Fridays and square and taste like cardboard? I hate to admit it, but the soy-burgers always had me. mmmmmmm. Also the mini salads with french dressing and if I had any money left, the Nutty Buddy for $.25 was the special treat.
My favorite was the junk food that I brought from home. I hear they've banned
the good stuff from vending machines. Time to get rich selling black market
candy bars now. Psssst! Hey Kid! Wanna buy a Snickers? Only $3.00!!
Yea they had the milk bags until I was in like 3rd grade; the best meal though came out this year, the spicy chicken sandwich, its great for a school lunch.

I loved the burgers too. I am probably older then you all, but when I went to Braddock Elem. (around 1980) they had egg McMuffin type breakfast sandwiches. Yummy!
But all they offered was plain milk. We didn't get the chocolate option. :(
that spaghetti and meat sauce was the shit
my first high school ' jeb stuart' had a pasta line and mexican line and pizza then regular line. Pasta line was badass mang.. shit i shoulda flunked just so i could eat there 1 more year
the spaghetti was great and the pizza was decent - until they went to "french bread" pizza.
I think lunch was something like 65c back then. No idea what it is nowbut my one kid had a debit card at her school so she does not have to carry cash. I let my wife worry about the details on that.
BTW, milk was in cartons, brought daily from the Shenendoahs Pride truck.
Yes...Shenandoah's Pride! I got the 2% in the tiny orange carton. Good times.
The pot pies were certainly nasty, and the burgers were tasty despite the fact that the bun adhered to the patty such that you couldn't easily add stuff to it.
My favorite "choice of two" items were the tater tots and green beans. The fries were decent too---oily and soggy, perfect with mayo.
I loved the cookie delight ice cream and the fudge browies (50 cents). The Linden's cookie 2-packs (either butter crunch, chocolate chip, or fudge chip) were a bargain at 25 cents each.
Finally, I never liked the "Bite Right" swipe cards. They were stored on the wall by the register. I'm surprised people didn't lie about their name and steal meals.
They had that like 5 year phase where they used milk in bags; but for like the last 10 its back to the Shenadoah Pride cartons. And the price has gone up like every year I could remember, this year lunch is 2.25; i'd venture to say it'll be up to 3 dollars in a few years.
We used to have cafeteria snowball fights with the mashed potatoes. I don't know what held them together but it was enough that you could palm it and make a decent throw across the room.
Nothing like seeing a nerd catch one in the back of the head.
