TireVan is a mobile tire installation service in the area. They are expert professionals who will come to your house, work etc and install your tires for you. This way you don't have to deal with the headaches of wasting hours of time at a shop, worry about being dropped off and/or picked up etc.

They also guarantee the lowest prices in town!!!

Check them out at www.tirevan.com

yeah, it was a real hassle to drop off my car and have the tires mounted and put on my car. i had to drop off the car, go eat lunch and pick up my car! it was a horrible nightmare. the thought of those three steps haunts me.

for all you non-"im scared off my car!" people, you can buy some nice tires online and have them mounted and balanced at wal-mart(the cheapest place to have it done). seriously, if you do this, you will save a nice heap of cash. note: wal-mart works on wal-mart time. (ie: DHL = moving at the speed of business. wal-mart = moving at the speed of wal-mart.)

I second the recommendation for Tire Rack...their prices are almost unbeatable, helpful and knowledgeable sales support, and low cost shipping to your home or installer. This last point, however, may be the reason why Costco increased their installation cost from something like $8/tire to $20-25. I think that a lot of people were buying from Tire Rack since their installation cost was so low.

Does Wal-Mart use nitrogen to fill the tires? If not, I will probably stick with Craven.

well, if tirevan's mobile service is charing around the same amount as costco then I would much rather let someone come to my work/home rather than waste my time dealing with wasting time going to a shop.

Tire Rack has the cheapest tires.. and the largest selection ... BUT they are not always the cheapest... I buy alot of tires for auto-cross and street tires.

Lets compare: 1 BFgoodrich comp T/A Z rated 205/55/16

from tire rack
Base price $81.00
plus shipping 14.94
plus taking it to a shop to get mounted and balanced $10-$25
Plus an optional road hazard coverage $9.72
then if you road hazard you have to get it unmounted and get a new one remounted..

Costco
Base price $110
shipping ..no cost
mounting and balancing: included in price
road hazard: $10.00

NTB
base price $123
shipping.. no cost
mounting and balancin: included
road hazard : unsure..

And remember .. Alot of shops wont mount tires you dont buy there.. Costco Will NOT.. wal-mart might.. Sams Club WILL...Sears WILL NOT>.

The only reason I buy from Tire Rack is I buy alot of specialty tires for racing.. and then I mount them. Otherwise I would just go to Costco especially when they have the buy 3 get one free deals. And remember time is money ..

man, I'm all about convenience. Heck, I'm' willing to pay a few extra bucks if someone will come change tires at my work/home. I'd do the same for windshield etc.
Call me busy, lazy...whatever..haha but I just dont believe in wasting hours at a shop if I don't have to ..

Curious about the autocross - by any chance are you part of the BMW club? I met some guys last weekend and it sounds like a lot of fun. My 16 year old daughter wants to take a training course in the spring, but we would need to get a different car since neither my convertible or her small SUV are allowed. I was thinking about getting a 1999-2001 540i which I could use as a daily driver and autocross. What is your typical annual investment for tires, suspension and brakes?

TireVan will come to your house and mount/balance the tires! They even offer Road-Force Balancing for high performance tires.

Are you saying you know for a fact this guy works for TireVan? There's nothing on the web site that indicates employment.

NTB always matched Tire Rack's tire prices. All I did was add the tires to the shopping cart on Tire Rack website(which shows shipping cost, etc), then print it out. I brought the print-out to the Tysons NTB and showed it to them... they matched it on the spot.($615 plus tax for all four tires, installed)
For comparison, NTB's in-store price was originally $728)

Not sure if other NTBs will do the same... but the Tysons store has done it on
my previous three tire purchases

Just out of curiosity, does the car owner have to be next to the car when
the Tire Van guys show up?

For example, if I see the Tire Van at my office garage, I probably wouldn't
think twice about it... but they could just as easily been stealing the wheels
off my manager's wheels.(19" BBS wheels, which he paid $2300 from Tire Rack)

Wouldn't the Tire Van be the perfect cover for a whee thief?

just a thought

I've recently used Tire Van. They were times where they were very rude with me, and a little racist. I'm white but I will not laugh and joke with you, when you make racist jokes.

Also, there's no way to prove it, but it looks like there were some new scratches in the area of my wheel bay which weren't there before I hired Tire Van.

Well he'd deserve to get them stolen. Seriously, 19 inches? What a waste of money.
