Biggest house in the county?
Posted by: JBass ()
Date: April 19, 2011 09:17AM

Though Im sure there has been a thread on this in the past; I did a quick search and couldnt find one..

So what is the biggest house in Fairfax county? Highest assessed tax value? Does Clifton take the Cake? Great Falls? Reston?

This place is in Fairfax Station, I think this guy owns Merrifield Garden Center, or someone once told me.

http://icare.fairfaxcounty.gov/Forms/Datalets.aspx?mode=structure_size&taxyear=2012&ownseq=1&roll=REAL&jur=&sIndex=4&idx=11&LMparent=138

He also owns the place next door...

http://icare.fairfaxcounty.gov/Forms/Datalets.aspx?mode=structure_size&taxyear=2012&ownseq=1&roll=REAL&jur=&sIndex=4&idx=12&LMparent=138

This place is a bit smaller but the assesed tax value is $3.667

http://icare.fairfaxcounty.gov/Forms/Datalets.aspx?mode=profileall&taxyear=2012&ownseq=1&roll=REAL&jur=&sIndex=3&idx=1&LMparent=138

This spot is even smaller but apparently built like a fortress. I have heard rumors from friends in the neighborhood that it is bomb proof windows etc etc, Kinda like the house the dad built in the movie FEAR with Mark Wahlberg. $3.36 mil
http://icare.fairfaxcounty.gov/Forms/Datalets.aspx?mode=valuesall&taxyear=2012&ownseq=1&roll=REAL&jur=&sIndex=1&idx=15&LMparent=138

There is another house on this street that was started but never completed, solid concrete construction, crazy shit... They went belly up.

I am sure there are a few that take the cake on these. Does anybody have some to add to the list?

If you think $3.667 is taking the prize, you are way way way off.

No I dont think that is taking the prize, mo, mo, moron. I will quote the last line in my OP "I am sure there are a few that take the cake on these. Does anybody have some to add to the list?"

Now, my attentive anon poster, If I ask a question about the biggest house, and ask who knows of larger, more expensive houses; Would it not stand to reason that I was conceding that this is not the largest or most expensive and I was asking so I would know in the future...

Also, Please share the address of a house with an assessed tax value ofer $3.667 Mil in Fairfax County or face the fact that you have contributed nothing to society today and you most likely wont tomorrow.

You might want to focus your search on houses in Great Falls and the ones that line rt. 123 going towards DC. I know I have seen some listings on houses close to the Arlington border that are near $20 million.

I know the house on Doyle Rd. This is located in Clifton. I actually spoke with the owner once. There was some land across from his house for sale so I drove up to his place with the excuse of trying to get information on the land for sale. We talked for awhile then I commented on his house. He told me the house is 27,000 sq. ft. 10 bedrooms, 9 full baths with one half bath, 3 kitchens, 6 fireplaces, indoor swimming pool, and has a tee-off spot on the roof that you can hit the golf ball to a 3-par hole. UNGODLY!!!!!!! He said his house has an engineered water-filtration system because the land did not perk correctly. That's a $20,000 system to have fresh water. GEEESSSHHH!!!! Anyway, I did some research on this house and this house was also in one of those small booklets where houses, townhouses, and condos are for sale and the owner was trying to sell the house several years ago for $14 million!!!! My optometrist told me about an even bigger house about a mile from the FFX Home Depot on RT. 29. I cannot remember the street name but would know it if I drove by the street, anyway, she was actually in the house and the size of the house is 35,000 sq. ft. I drove to the house to look at it and it is MASSIVE!!!! TO ME, ANYONE WHO BUILDS A HOUSE THAT HUGE HAS AN EGO PROBLEM!!!!!

The Streetview shows that this particular one has the right feel for such a price:

But yours don't even come close. Nowhere near in fact. Your list isn't even worth mentioning. It is like asking what the most expensive car is and then pointing to a VW Jetta as an example.

> Now, my attentive anon poster, If I ask a question
> about the biggest house, and ask who knows of

See above. Your starting point was ridiculously low.

Now stop getting all butt hurt bent out of shape just cause you are too stupid to figure shit our on your own and then get called on it. Got it, JBasshole?

I don't know about biggest or most expensive, but this would be my choice in southern fairfax county: http://www.redfin.com/VA/Lorton/11201-Gunston-Rd-22079/home/9829548

(Added bonus: a realtor who actually posted the maximum of 30 photos in the MLS real estate system)

Nice house, but for nearly $8M, I'd expect a bit more than an asphauld driveway.

I wasn't aware of an alternative, but I don't claim to know anything about paving. Looking at the birds eye view you have to at least enjoy the length of that driveway. I'd estimate it at 900+ feet!

You could use pavers, bricks, etc. Even stamped concrete would look better.
Here are examples:

http://www.redfin.com/VA/Mclean/1010-Basil-Rd-22101/home/9282052
http://www.redfin.com/VA/Mclean/887-Alvermar-Ridge-Dr-22102/home/9832886
http://www.redfin.com/VA/Mclean/7826-Swinks-Mill-Ct-22102/home/9832924

Just seems to me that if you are dropping all that cash on a home, why skimp on that part? You can see how much better pavers look.

Whoah - can someone help me understand what's going on here? I looked it up in ICARE and found two listings for the address. One was originally owned by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION.

I don't look up real estate much, just an interesting twist to this listing. Can someone explain?

"The General Services Administration (GSA) doesn't make federal agencies -- it makes them better. In addition to acting as the government's landlord in obtaining office space for the federal workforce, the GSA also manages properties, and supplies equipment, telecommunications, and information technology products to its customer agencies. It oversees some $24 billion in federal assets, including 8,600 buildings, and over 20,000 vehicles. It also manages USA.gov, the government's official Web site. The agency operates through divisions including the Federal Acquisition Service and Public Buildings Service. The GSA was established in 1949 and has an annual budget of approximately $675 million."

Basically, They could have owned that place ore a hundred different reasons; Im sure none of them would pass FFXU governmental spending muster

Oh... and the OTHER listing shows the buyer (Eric Phillips) bought it from Stone Manor, LLC (presumably the developer since the area is called Stone Manor) in 2000 for $525K. Seems like a nice chunk of land for that price in the year 2000.

And, to Paver, now I see what you were saying. MAJOR difference, and good insight. I wonder though how much it would cost to do that driveway distance with anything other than asphault.

GSA owns a small tract adjacent to the property with the home. there is no structure on the trat of land GSA owns. My guess is some sort of easement.

That guy doesn't seem to be the developer (Eric G Phillips). He owns a boat there and has a small company.

BOAT: http://www.boatinfoworld.com/registration.asp?vn=101758
COMPANY: http://www.manta.com/c/mtrrb50/first-phillips-inc

So it seems he bought the house in 2000 for $525K and is selling it now for much more. Good investment. Very jealous

Fairfax Station? Really? The homes you are looking for are on the banks of the Potomac in Great Falls. I found these three without even trying.
