It came as no surprise to anyone in her family that Reada ended up on the radio. After all, she was the kid whose favorite toy was a hand held tape recorder. She would spend hours upon hours in her room pretending she had her own radio station (which was named WGUM), making up stories, singing and other general silliness.
Many years later, Reada is no longer pretending. She has been in the business since high school when she got her first internship at a top 40 station in Washington D.C. Since then, she's held a variety of positions - promotions assistant, producer, dj, public affairs and traffic reporter to name a few.
She was a traffic reporter for the DC/Baltimore area for 7 years, nationwide on satellite radio for 5 years and has spent the last couple of years on the air in Baltimore.
Born and raised in Silver Spring, Reada says "I was a Cresthaven Dragon, a Francis Scott Key Raider, a Springbrook Blue Devil and a Towson Tiger. I'm excited to be back reporting traffic in a city I love. DC traffic can be frustrating and it is my job to help you get where you're going as quickly as possible and hopefully with much less stress. However, I can't do my job without you. Your calls to the WTOP traffic center are a vital part of what we do here and I appreciate each and every one of them."

One day I was listening to WMAL in the morning and one their the many traffic reports and I thought I was listening to annoying Lisa Baden but later found out it was some other person trying very hard to imitate her. You could tell that this other person had been told to imitate Baden because it sounded so forced and unnatural. As much as I was annoyed by Baden's reports at least it was her own style. But to have someone trying to imitate all of her goofy inflections seems even more ridiculous. I guess they think it will bring ratings.

I've listened to the new traffic reports in the morning. Rita Kessler is all about reporting traffic. None of this song and dance bullshit. So far, she addresses more roads in one segment than Baden did over the course of 30 minutes. And Father Hurley Boulevard was mentioned on in passing. Lovin' it!

Am I the only one in this whole area that looked forward to hearing Lisa Baden every morning. I'm a senior and live in the Chesapeake Bay area and have been in Maryland for nine years and we seniors don't like changes. I wondered why I hadn't heard Liza's voice lately -- I thought she had been on vacation -- boy was I wrong. Frankly, I really don't care for Rita Kessler's voice. That's odd. To me, after Lisa, Rita seems like someone interested in telling me about traffic issues around the area as opposed to my mom making bad jokes and nagging me to turn on my headlights every ten minutes.

I don't listen to traffic reports for personality. I listen to them for the traffic. Given the limited time available for traffic coverage in each report, Baden's quips, singing, etc, really went against the whole purpose for the traffic report in the first place. If you want humor and personality, try pretty much everything else on the dial at that time of the morning.

Maybe now I can catch a full weather report on WTOP. I used to have to turn off the traffic report and count the seconds until the weather would come on. Most times I would guess wrong and end up either missing the first part of the weather, or tuning in too soon and painfully be reminded why I tuned out the traffic in the first place. Glad Lisa O'Baden, "O" for obnoxious, is gone.

I am appalled by low level some people resort to when they don't have anything intelligent to say. How demonstrative of your IQ to include anti-semitic remarks, name calling, and generalizing. No radio station can have eyes and ears everywhere. If you don't hear about your traffic situation, maybe no one called the station to update them. We are their best resource, but it seems that the posters on this forum are too self absorbed to be helpful. I'm not a fan of Reada's voice either, but she provides a service. Lisa Baden was just a different voice providing the same service.

I actually think Reada's been doing a great job - she hits the main roads in every report. It seems to me that WTOP's traffic reports in general have improved since they ditched Metro Traffic. I think the callers have a lot to do with it.

I'll take Lisa Baden over the afternoon traffic guy Bob Marbourg. His reports are horrible. He will spend a good chunk of the time talking about one accident instead of getting in as much as he can within one report. It drives me nuts when he says traffic on "I-66 runs un-eventful", what the hell does that mean??? Is it slower than normal, jammed, or moving at normal speeds? The weekend reporters do a better job than the "senior" traffic guys. I get more out of XM traffic reports and Google Maps than WTOP now, which is pretty sad.

Lisa Baden was a great traffic reporter on WTOP. She could be corny, but she gave accurate up to date traffice reports. Bob Marbourg and Lisa Baden are the two best traffic reporters the Washington area has. More than any other radio station, you could count and can count on reports that spotlight problems in any area within 50 miles of DC. She will be missed.

This morning I listened to her completely ignore the two car fire on 66 near Gainesville that closed the highway and backed things up for hours. Not. One. Word.

I just want more accurate 66 reports...one day I hear traffic is backed up out of Gainesville and it's a smooth ride all the way to fairfax...the next day I hear very heavy manassas into centerville and it's backed up to Gainesville...sometimes there will be three rounds of traffic reports without a mention of 66...

Unless that local road was Father Hurley Blvd, that mattress wouldn't have even made it into her report. She never reports on anything other than that, 270, BW Parkway, 95 in MD, 495 in MD, and 295 in DC. It's like she thinks the Potomac is the boundary between civilization and wilderness. Unless that local road was Father Hurley Blvd, that mattress wouldn't have even made it into her report. She never reports on anything other than that, 270, BW Parkway, 95 in MD, 495 in MD, and 295 in DC. It's like she thinks the Potomac is the boundary between civilization and wilderness.
