Hobo #2 was out buying alcohol, I think... Anyways, Ben is in jail and the other homeless guy is on the lamb after some of the neighborhood residents learned what his name was and reported him as the thief breaking into their cars. He's got a warrant out for his arrest on something like twenty five counts of breaking and entering an automobile.

I noticed that too. I can only assume that they purchased goods with the credit cards and then pawned the merchandise. It's not like you can get a cash advance on credit cards without an ID.

Let’s recap:

- Someone started this thread asking if anyone knew anything about a creepy guy hanging around the local Giant
- Others replied that they had also seen him, and thought he was creepy
- Still more people replied with information, such as his name, his age, and his status as a homeless person
- As more information about this creep became known, people made comments about what a complete loser he appeared to be
- Some posters came to the defense of the homeless loser can said that he was in fact, a nice guy
- There was some debate about what constitutes a loser and the consensus is that the creepy homeless guy is in fact, a loser

The moral of the story is this. Don’t be a creepy looking, loser homeless convict hanging out in public places and you don’t have to worry about people posting about you on the interwebnets.

It's not just that, from what the OP said and others confirmed, this ginger creep approaches unfamiliar teenage girls in a parking lot. I would hope parents had stepped up and complained to the police. There is no reason someone in their 20s needs to hit on teenagers.

Ben made poor choices, and he is going to take the fall for both of the men that were back in the woods, unfortunately. When he gets out he does in fact have a "plan" to get a job, and to live with me, and be on probation until he grows up a little. He knows what he did, and has been doing with his life, is wrong. I honestly think, this has been a reality check for him. He is back on the medication he needs, and will more then likely change his attitude towards life.

I am by no means justifying what he did it was wrong all these counts, but if he truly does have a drug and or alcohol problem he needs help. I having been a now rehabilitated previous addict know just how detrimental alcohol can be. His name is robert paulson.

A friend of mine has a kid the same age with lots of the same kind of problems. So based on this experience I am reluctant to judge. This kid is really, really difficult to help. In this information age economy, there is no place in any longer for this kid to land to develop life skills, work habits, understanding authority and rules, and so on. And worse yet, he has awful dealings with the criminal justice system, meaning jail and facing charges that an ordinary middle class kid (with parental support and any sense of guile and self-awareness) would have had dismissed. He has started out behind with the criminal justice system, and just has little chance to catch up. Each year after he has turned 18 provides him with increasingly less compassion from virtually every institution he deals with. And self medicating with drugs works better for his problems than the health care he obtains - and this is not a knock on the health care system per se - he wouldn't know how to exploit it to look out for himself if there was a free clinic on every block. I see no alternative but to try to impose accountability, but heck, even if with money and some power at hand, it is really difficult to help a kid whose formative young adult years have been spent being homeless. There is simply no wiring, so to speak. Going to prison almost seems inevitable, and while I am no bleeding heart, it does bother me that we simply don't know how to deal with young men who do not have the life skills to come close to playing the game. And all the more jarring because I am like many other suburban guys who like to momentarily delude themselves to think it is a relative paradise where this stuff doesn't take place. I view his plight as well as the individual talked about here as a real problem given the immense decline of the manufacturing and agricultural labor markets.

I have noticed that some people enjoy laying around getting high more than they enjoy going to work. Some people also get lots of freaky piercings and / or tattoos so that no one will hire them, then lay around getting high because they can't find a job.

What ever happened with this guy?

I know Ben. Not very well, but I used to hang out with him and two other dudes (Alex Woolridge and Moe Is) in Springfield back in 2010 and '11. They loved getting stoned then going to spend the rest of the evening at hookah bars. Alex was pretty shady, but Ben always seemed pretty chill and laid back. Wasn't aware he was homeless or maybe in jail. Hope he gets his life straightened out!
