JOE SOLTAS PASSED AWAY SATURDAY

"Joseph M. "Buddy" Soltas, 49, died April 24 in Chantilly.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years Lori Ann; children Joey Jr. and Jessica Soltas; parents Joseph and Jacquelin Soltas of Waterford; sisters Teresa Soltas of Winchester and Nicole Soltas of Berry...ville; brothers Richard Soltas of Waterford and Mark Soltas of Winchester.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 30 at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Soltas Children Educational Fund c/o George Mason Mortgage Company, 4100 monument corner Dr. Suite 100, Fairfax, VA 22030."

Rumor is he did shoot himself and I was absolutely stunned. He seemed like a real class guy.

I'm from his neighborhood and have heard cops were at his house for a domestic dispute as he bolted. Now maybe the police shot him and it was a cover up, but this death was not natural causes.

It does appear that he shot him with a gun.

The article mentions a son who is a Jr at Chantilly High School and Joey Jr Soltas is indeed listed as a JR at Chantilly HS.

Only rumor i heard is from a friend that works for
Microsoft. He said they are going to come out with
a camera attachemnt that will make the xbox like
the wii. you wont need a controller though. it
will follow your body movement instead. when you
play a fighting game you will actually be fighting
in your living room..etc. should be out by the end

That's just conjecture... you don't know the circumstances, and you don't know if he really was the main breadwinner or not. Actually, the info above is only partially true. A resident of Waverly Crossing got into a domestic dispute at his home and the police were called. As the police were responding he grabbed a gun from his house and jumped in his pickup truck and fled. The police followed him out of Waverly Crossing and into Walney Oaks (next neighborhood down on Walney Road). Not realizing it there wasn't a back way out of the development he ended up on a dead-end cul de sac (Shady Point Place). The police blocked him in and tried to talk him out of the car (using megaphones). He did not respond or comply with the offices and shot himself in the head in his own vehicle. He died at the scene. No one was stabbed and his daughter is 13 years old and his son is a junior at Chantilly HS. Very sad. I am a resident of Walney Oaks and all of this information was corraborated by the Sully District Police Station. No police report has been filed, so it isn't available to the public, but if you call they will confirm the information. 703-814-7000

I am absolutely appalled at the lack of respect shown by people on this message thread. Maybe this is where all the cruel losers of the county come to hang out, but there is really no excuse. This man was a son, a husband, and a father and your lack of respect and basic human kindness is disgusting. A man is dead, no matter the cause, no matter the reason. It is clearly a huge tragedy for his family and I hope you can find a moment to pray for them.

Sorry to hear of this for his children, whom are no doubt going through a lot of pain, without their father, and in such traumatic circumstances. A lot of people are going through pain these days, but ending your life is not the way to resolve anything, although I am glad he didn't go by suicide by cop. Our prayers and thoughts should be with this family, whom are carrying an immense burden at this time.
