Anybody have any idea what was going on off of Backlick rd., right before Carrleigh Pkwy this morning. There were a ton of firetrucks/cop cars out in front of the Cary Building. As I was driving past also noticed a Hazardous materials truck...

Nothing was going on off of Backlick Road, right before Carrleigh Pkwy this morning. How do I know? Because Carrleigh doesn't intersect Backlick and the Cary building is on Old Keene Mill.

Go buy a map, tard.

The Cary building has been shut down. There was a serious incident this morning involving recent immigrants who were found to be infected with XDR-TB. The place is under lockdown and people are being quarantined there until they can be checked out and shown to be not infected with the strain.

Isn't the Cary Building off of Old Keene Mill Road? Is there more than one?

That's fucked up. Imagine going into that building for a check-up and having that shit happen to you.

There was a church that had a gas leak, which caused a fire.

I work in the Cary Building. There was an electrical fire which burned into the gas line. The building was shut down, taped off, and everyone evacuated.

Thank you for posting the truth and not lies. It was a fire. Glad that you are safe and your coworkers are safe.

Sorry that you feel that way; however, I think that it is inappropriate to post that there was an incident with immigrants rather than the truth, which is that there was a fire. I believe the a-hole is the person that posted that rather than the truth.

Again, I am very happy that all employees and people at the building are safe and that we now know what really happened.

Fairfax County closes health department to treat for fleas
Wednesday, April 28, 2010 9:15 AM
By Mary Beth Lane

The Fairfax Department of Health has closed its building in Springfield for three days to treat it for a flea infestation.

The building is scheduled to reopen Monday, Board of Health member Robert Blair said today.

The health building at 8136 Old Keene Mill Rd was already being treated to eliminate the flea problem. The building closure marks a stepped-up effort to get rid of the pests.

Chipmunks and bats also have been spotted in the building.

The building houses vital statistics, environmental services and the Women Infants and Children program, among other offices. The WIC clients have been notified and rescheduled for appointments.

Blair did not know how much the flea treatment would cost. The department has had budget problems, and the cost of maintaining the old building puts added stress on the budget, Health Commissioner Frank Hirsch has said.

Now, facing budget problems, health officials want the county commissioners to take the building back or, at least, help subsidize it. County commissioners have refused, saying the county general fund budget is tight as it is and cannot accommodate maintaining the building.

County Prosecutor David Landefeld, asked by county officials to render an opinion on whether the county commissioners are obligated to take back the building, researched the issue but found no clear answer. He has now asked the Virginia attorney general for an opinion.
