Fairfax has had a number of IT issues this year even before the virus. Looks like FCPS was making students and staff make do with technology that was sunsetted at least 2 years ago. That's appalling considering FCPS is supposed to be one of the better school systems in the nation.

If she resigns, she keeps her pension for 21 years of service. If they fire her, she walks away with nothing. People at her level are afforded the opportunity to resign/retire. She basically opted to "fall on the sword" and take the blame for FCPS. Her pension is payment for that act.

FCPS, like any entity, is using BlackBoard because they do not have an in-house solution (nor should they, FCPS is in the business of teaching (if you want to call it that but I digress...)). In other words, FCPS is paying BlackBoard for their service.
If the BlackBoard service doesn't cut it then the problem is 1) with BlackBoard (possibly) and most definitely 2) FCPS (since they made the decision to go with BlackBoard.
FCPS is 100% liable for the business decision to go with BlackBoard. If BlackBoard didn't cut it then the business (management) decision(s) at FCPS is PRIMA FACIA suspect.
This is all the more clear when you consider that FCPS is paying BlackBoard with YOUR tax dollars. To be fair however, most liberals cannot understand basic finance / economy (there is that pesky public school education again; see above...)
As an anecdote, I used to work for a bill collection agency that contracted with a local company for their collection station software. When the software didn't work, the president of the collection agency called the president of the software company and gave him two options 1) sell him the software company -or- 2) hire some good lawyers because he was about to get sued out the wazoo. Software company went with option 1). Bill collection agency president turned his new acquisition into a new subsidiary, built new software, sold it for bank, and then (after some other lucrative business ventures) retired and spends the rest of his life marlin fishing down south. All of this without a FCPS education...
