Teacher-led instruction for Fairfax County, Virginia, elementary and middle schools will be delayed 2 hours Wednesday.
High school office hours will begin no later than 10 a.m.

FCPS just announced a two-hour delay tomorrow. Since we have never had a virtual two-hour delay I wanted to clarify what it means for us.
ALL SESSIONS SCHEDULED FROM 9:00-11:00 are CANCELLED.
This includes any special education sessions before 11 AM, as well as
Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grades 3- 5.
Sessions held at 11:00 (Grade 2 and 6) and thereafter will go on as scheduled. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Although fcps has distributed laptops and portable WiFis to any high school student they believe needed them, they have decided it would NOT be “equitable” (in keeping with their new equitable polic(ies)) to teach the majority of students willing and able to participate, if there was but one student who was still did connected.
And because our supervisors have chosen to take the advice of confused and misguided advisors, they have wasted time and money these past 8 weeks preparing for distance learning only to decide against it in the last hour.
Someone needs to save our county from the noodles pretending to make wise decisions. They obviously are incapable of doing so.

Gatehouse and the school board have set the schools up for failure. They had plenty of time to get this ready, but they continue to show they are incapable for making and executing a plan. Individual school buildings would have been much better off allowing their teachers and admin to come up with a plan rather than involve the clueless leaders of FCPS.

Amid widespread technical issues preventing students from accessing distance learning tools, Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia announced Wednesday that all teacher-led instruction has been canceled for the week in order to make necessary updates.
The school system and Blackboard, the county’s online learning provider, believe they have identified the root cause of the connectivity problems and that they involve a software issue.
“In order to work properly, staff must make necessary updates and patches to the system. On a system as large as FCPS’, these critical updates take time,” according to a letter school Superintendent Scott Brabrand sent to the school community.

Remember a couple years ago when the School Board increased Their own pay? Maybe they should all vote to decrease the board pay and the leadership and board should step down as they are clearly incompetent of using our tax dollars wisely. McLaughlin and Cohen are the only two competent board members and they come from tax bases that give the most and get the least.
