Lenten Fish Fry

Are there any good church-sponsored fish fries around here for the Lent season? I would’ve thought at least some of the Catholic churches around here would put one on for those of us who don’t want to eat meat on Fridays during Lent, but honestly i haven’t heard of any at all. The only thing I could find is restaurants or bars that have fried fish deals for Lent but that is not the tradition! Fried fish, pierogies, fries, cole slaw, there’s gotta he a church somewhere here who’s doing this?

McD's has new fish sandwich. Also, Lobster rolls and tunafish subs are the best! You can also do mac and cheese or pizza.

So many great options and you can still go to heaven.

Fletcher House on the Potomac near Chain Bridge "Used" to have a great fish fry in spring with fish donated by anglers up there

Sorry the Fletchers sold out some years back ,your otta luck, maybe you can restart the tradition if you can speak Spanish as the illegals take any fish any size up there , what do they have to lose ? Beans rice tortillas fried fish and mojo sauce make a good feast but you'll have to sneak in plenty of cerveza or they won't party with you

I'd say to ask some Catholics, but then there is the whole molestation thing.

They're ubiquitous in the Pittsburgh area during lent, that's why I asked. Pretty much nothing like that around here it seems.

Oh, you're from Pittsburgh? Why don't you go the fuck back? While you're at it, take all the other PA asswipes and their Penn State/Penguins/Steelers/Pirates bumper stickers with you.

It's because of you people that this state is so fucked up now.

The Byzantine Church on Woodburn Road used to have pierogi dinners on Friday nights. Thanks for the reminder to go by there during Lent.

But I'd like to find a fish fry also.

I’ve been all over VA and trust me, the areas that seem the most desperate are the places where most of the population are locals. The regions with alot of transplants seem to be well-off, and, funding those poor rural areas with problems out the wazoo.

Lenten fish frys are a Catholic thing and pierogies are a legacy of east and central European 19th and early 20th century immigrants. Catholics may be the largest denomination in this area, but the area is still more culturally Protestant. Until Yankees started coming to this area in the mid-20th century I doubt you could find anyone who knew what pierogies were. Baltimore might be a good bet.

So what does that prove professor economics? Carpetbagger Yankees know where to move to make a buck?

The state has been ruined by faggot transplants from PA/NY/NJ.... who fucked up their own state (by electing liberals), left because it was so fucked up and now have fucked up VA.
