RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ7) - The Virginia House of Delegates has passed legislation that would raise the minimum wage to ten dollars an hour later this year.

That’s just one of hundreds of bills lawmakers tackled on Tuesday, as they faced a major deadline. This is the point in the General Assembly session known as Crossover, and Tuesday was the deadline for each chamber to complete work on its own legislation.

While most of the work went quickly, some of the bills, like House Bill 395, sparked debate. Democrats argued an increase in the minimum wage is long overdue. Republicans labeled the legislation a job killer.

The amended House bill would raise the minimum wage to ten dollars an hour in July of this year, and to 15 dollars by 2025.

Delegate Dawn Adams (D-Richmond) said, "The disparity between those who can afford to have a family with one job, and those who can ill afford to have a family with multiple jobs, affects every one of us, through our taxes, our program funding and our lens from which we view the world and the people in it."

Wages are already rising as the Trump economy drives unemployment to historic lows. This is another feel good idea from the party of feelings.
When this is tried in other states the following usually happens:
Losers:
Hours get cut.
Fewer are hired.
Companies move to other states.
Jobs are automated.
Prices increase which disproportionately affects low wage workers. (Someone now making $12 sees no benefit but his prices go up - net loss to him)

Winners:
Libtards get to pat themselves on the back and tell themselves how good they are because, you know, they care more than anyone.

They'll be raising the price on average goods the next day. Nothing will change faggot until you learn you are not special and need to grind at the wheel of life like everyone else.

When existing companies outsource jobs to reduce their labor costs recent history has shown that the savings are more likely to go to senior management compensation and to the investors rather than being used to lower prices for the consumers. Yet whenever there is talk of raising labor costs for low income employees the response is always that it will raise consumer prices.

Yes, because both are true. Outsourcing allows them to increase profits by reducing labor costs. Price increases lets them increase / maintain profits by raising prices. Different methods depending on circumstances but with the same goal. There is nothing incompatible or inconsistent; in fact, both could be used at the same time.

That they are both true does not mean they must both be inevitably true. That they are in practice indicates there is a flaw in the marketplace.

What flaw do they indicate?

This is great for the investor class, I approve of this. All my debts are fixed, inflation is low even with super low interest rates, anything to help inflation is good right now.
