Somehow I've got to think a former Marine would know how to kill a lot of people if he wanted too even if you told him his guns were illegal.

I have about 25 guns and they have yet to kill anyone yet! They sit quietly and follow directions without much problem.
If I wanted to commit some form of mass murder, I probably would not use any of my guns, there are other ways to create as much or more carnage than with a gun.
Criminals and mentally ill or mean and spiteful people do not follow rules, more laws are not going to make a significant impact on anything here. I agree that some rules/law and background checks are a good thing. BUT think about this, I laugh when the hens in the neighborhood are excited that no Sexual Predators are listed as living nearby. The only Sexual Predators that are required to register are the ones that have been previously caught and CONVITED! So you do not know how unsafe you really are. Just check the local Catholic Church! Plenty of Chesters there, they were all likely molested when they were young and continue the pattern.
Hell there are 75 million AK-47's around the world and this is just 1 gun, how are you going to control just these? There are estimated 500 Million firearms worldwide. Better to have few people have the bulk of them rather than a few loonies that have 1 or 2 guns.
