Yes, I agree, this will be detrimental to employment rates, at the least, if not also to businesses. Even if the business could absorb the costs and still turn a profit, it will not do so. If the Directors and Officers want to keep their jobs, they must see to it that the stockholders get paid. The costs of this will come out of the dividends. Unpaid stockholders mean unemployed Officers and Directors.

Despite that, this is the expressed will of the people and must stand. People do have the right to be shortsighted. It is not the business of government to protect the people from themselves.

The DC Council effort has nothing to do with repealing the $15 minimum wage. It is about whether TIPPED employees are entitled to receive a base wage of $15 per hour from employers IN ADDITION TO customer tips.

Every once in a while, you get a problem from one of those types, but, as a rule, they tend to be OK as long as you at least p ut a minimum of effort into keeping the joint up and make sure the exterminator comes and the trash gets picked up. As long as you have a Super who can take care of small matters or at least do a stopgap until the contractor can show up, you're OK.


If you have to evict one of those types, they might fight you at first, but, generally, they're l ong gone by the time the Marshalls show up. They might leave a stick or 2 of furniture or a bag of old clothes, but, that takes all of 15 to get out and being working on it for the next tenant.
