5 Shot; 1 Killed in DC as Memorial Day Weekend Begins

The Memorial Day Weekend began with a violent night in the District as five men were shot. One man died from his injuries; four others were not in life-threatening condition.

Police responded to four different shootings late Friday night and early Saturday morning. It's unclear if any of them are related.

About 11 p.m. Friday, police responded to a shooting on the 300 block of Stanton Road Southeast. One man had been shot; he was conscious and breathing when taken to a hospital.

Around the same time, Police responded to the 800 block of Chesapeake Street Southeast and found two men had been shot. They were taken to the hospital conscious and breathing.

2 Teens Shot in SE DC; 1 Critically Injured

Police were called about 1 a.m. for a shooting where one man was injured. He was taken to the hospital conscious and breathing. Police are looking for two suspects last seen in a dark colored vehicle on the 800 block of Decatur Street Northwest.

Southeast DC resident Alexander Mosby was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after one shooting about 1:55 a.m. Saturday. The shooting occured on the 2200 block of Savannah Terrace Southeast, only half a mile away from where two teenagers were shot and wounded on Thursday near the 7th District police station.

Mosby later died. He was 39.

Nine Teens Have Been Killed This Year in DC

Police are investigating Mosby's death as a homicide and are looking for a silver Infinity SUV.

The identities of the other victims have not been released.
