Life in Fairfax county was great in the 70s and 80s when I was a kid. Days like today there was a charcoal grill in use at every other house. Kids were riding bikes and playing by the creek. Dads were smoking cigs and drinking mixed drinks on their suburban patios while the Moms were making the hamburger patties and a nice salad in the kitchen. All our neighbors were in the military or had good government jobs. Neighbors would help neighbors with anything from car repairs in the driveway to watching out for everybody's kids or dogs or whatever. Everyone went to church and donated money or time to the fire department and the Braddock road boys club. Then THEY started to move in and everything started going downhill.

When I try to go outside and grill food on a nice day like today- I have 20 sets of eyes staring at me like they never seen someone grill outside before. I mean the kids are even bold enough to walk up say hello and ask for a plate, but the adults just stare. I hate that so am moving from this townhouse community out into the country, forget it.
When this community was built in the 80's everyone was friendly, spoke to you when they saw you and not just stare rudely, and offered food or drinks or just friendly conversation. They would speak and go on about their business leaving you in peace. Not now.
All the staring from their cultures skeeves me out so I don't go outside anymore, makes me feel like I am doing something wrong for enjoying my own backyard! I walked around and noticed not one person was out grilling, day like today there would be at least 5-6 people with grills going, not even a hot dog is cooking as I speak which is sad.
We have 8 foot high privacy fences- I wish I could go to 12 feet....

This can't be denied. But it is exponentially worse now. It seems like every BOS election-cycle, we go down another 10% shithole-wise. I have 5 years till I can move the fuck out. Just hope I can make it that long.
In the meantime, if housing hits the highs we had before the crash, I'll sell and rent until I GTFO. Unless AM-E-Zon pickes Dulles, housing prices will go in the toilet within 10 years.
