Are Fairfax Schools lowering test score grading scales?

I actually live in PWC but I plan on relocating to boundaries of Chantilly HS.
My son who attends a middle school in Gainesville tells me they were lowered the standards for test scores. Apparently, a minimum of 30% is still considered a
grade D! Granted this isn't Woodbridge so I was expecting the Gainesville/Haymarket schools to be better. Please tell me Fairfax is not doing this in the middle schools.

Are you talking about Parents. Portal ? I noticed that too but I don't think its a 30% but as far as I know 64% IS PASSING IN FCPS

One of the great things about diversity is the dumbing down of the curriculum and standards. Who cares about you kid and whether she’s adequitly prepared for the competitive world, you racist! Don’t you want Te’quan to graduate!? Check your privilege.

You voted for this. You wanted to signal to all your suburban bourgeoisie friends, and now your kids are suffering because of it. Elections have consequences.

The last response was rathet ascerbic. I really don't want to make this a political discussion.

Im disturbed that PWC. is making 30% a passing score. I just wanted to get feedback from parents if they are seeing this in the K-8 grades within FCS.

Thanks,

Each class grades differently, and this year they did some changes to grading at my kids school, but I think it is 90-100 A, 80-89 B, etc down to 60%.

They did just sign on to One Fairfax, which attempts to achieve racial and socioeconomic equity in grades and opportunity. Don't know if this may eventually artificial slide scales and passing scores based on race/economic status.

ok thanks. I think i will benefit my kids in more ways that one to get them in FCS. They are not being challenged and no chess clubs in the schools! Parents, get your gets to play chess! Studies have proven it raises test scores.

Yes, reality can be aserbic, but unfortunately you can’t will your subjective reality into becoming an objective one. You are now experiencing - for the first time in your progressive, signaling life - the consequences of your ideology. Embrace it, you racist.

I recall that FCPS was not going to assign a 0% to any work, they would have a minimum grade that is considered "passable". So 50% was the minimum grade that can be given.

I seem to recall also hearing something about allowing the kids to retake tests if their grade was too low and they could bring it up. I do not remember all the rules but I am sure there is info out on the net about this.

I currently attend Chantilly High School and I can assure you that 30% is not a passing grade within FCPS. Anything below a 64 is an F.

chs,
Thanks for your reassurance. I think this is happening more at the middle/elementary school
grade levels. However, it still doesn't make it acceptable. I'm still going to reprimand the principle for allowing it to happen.
