Sledding

I live in fairlakes and my son wants me to take him sledding. Any suggestions for a free, safe, legal place with a decent hill?

Sledding is only allowed on private property in Fairfax if you go to a school or park you may get ticket so watch out.

It's a little bit of a hike, but the battlefield in Manassas has a great hill. It's at the intersection of 29 and Business 234 behind the historic "Stone House". It's fairly steep and long.

There is a longer gentler hill about .5 mile east of this intersection. If you're coming from Fairfax towards Manassas, it's on the left hand side past the quarry. There's a gate and a parking lot. The top of the hill has two cannons or something and a monument.
