White Drunk driver is charged with MURDER after his dead mother was found in the trunk of his car after a high speed police chase

A California man has been charged with murder after the body of his mother was found in the trunk of his SUV after a high speed police chase.
Tosten Walsh Lommen was charged on Monday in Riverside County, South Dakota, in the death of his mother, 58-year-old Michelle Walsh.

On Tuesday, an arrest warrant stated Lommen was interviewed and admitted to choking his mother to death.
Police say he killed her sometime around December 30 in her Palm Spring's home, according to The Rapid City Journal.
Investigators found bleach on the carpet and blood stains at the home which is in the upscale Escena Country Club. Lommen later told a detective that he 'freaked out and attempted to clean up the crime scene with bleach'.
Police believe he then fled California to South Dakota with his mother's dead body in the trunk.

The drunk man was then stopped by South Dakota troopers two days later after leading them in a chase on Interstate 90, police say.
Trooper Jeremy Biegert said in a court affidavit that Lommen then attempted to flee on foot before getting pulled from a chain link fence and handcuffed on the ground.
According to Biegert, Lommen smelled of alcohol, and a breath test found he had a blood alcohol level of 0.142, which is above the DUI threshold of 0.08.

Officials also allegedly found a jug that smelled of alcohol as well as prescription bottles in the SUV.
Lommen was first spotted in Lawrence County driving the car, which is registered to someone else, allegedly at more than 100mph.
A trooper tried stopping the speeding vehicle on eastbound I-90 near Spearfish around noon on New Year’s Day, but Lommen allegedly refused to stop.
The pursuit continued for nearly 50 miles and reached speeds of 118mph before officers used spike strips to disable the vehicle’s tires.

Officers found his mother's body in the rear of the vehicle wrapped in a blanket after arresting the man.
Police said they were familiar with the property and had been there about six times in the past for a welfare check, a domestic disturbance and even an investigation into an assault and battery.
Lommen remains jailed in South Dakota on charges of eluding authorities and drunken driving.
The Pennington County Clerk of Courts office says Lommen's bond has been set at $2.5 million.
California authorities plan to seek Lommen's extradition. It's unclear if he has an attorney who could comment.
Walsh had moved to Palm Springs in recent months after living for decades in Santa Cruz.
Lommen petitioned to change his name in 2016, stating that he wanted a 'fresh start.'
According to his Facebook page from 2008 to 2011, he worked as a kayak and stand-up paddle board instructor and tour guide in Santa Cruz. Now he's listed his current occupation as 'Being a Good Son.'
This isn't the first time Lommen has run into trouble with the law. Records show that in 2015, his then-girlfriend received a domestic violence restraining order against him.
She claims he threw her down the stairs, which broke her collar bone and he also held guns to her head and doused her in gasoline.
Santa Cruz County court records show he had previously been arrested for vandalism and petty theft also.

Roberto Galo, an unlicensed driver from Honduras who entered the U.S. illegally but earned temporary protective status (TPS), killed Drew Rosenberg, a second-year law student, on November 16, 2010 in San Francisco, California. Rosenberg was riding his motorcycle when Galo ran over him three times with his car. Galo was convicted of vehicular manslaughter and sentenced to 6 months in jail. USCIS refused to deport him and he was released after serving only 43 days. Thanks to the Rosenberg family's activism, Galo was finally deported on April 4, 2013.
