Was #28 (at 6:40) in my alphabetical groupig which was a grouping of 8 letters...

Paper ballots???? Where did they come from?

They actually had the electronic machines out at my polling place, but they weren't using them. I knew we were switching to all paper ballots, but thought it was weird they'd bring the machines out like that.

They are pushing paper this year because of swine flu concerns. They don't want everyone touching the same screen over and over. I used the touch screen and purelled after.

I was 58 at 7:45. Very few people handing out sample ballots at my polling place. In fact there were more Rs than Ds doing that this year which is not consistent with years past.

That's not true. The VA state assembly voted to phase out the electronic machines 2 years ago.

I noticed that too, or at least I thought they were the electronic machines. Turns out they just had the podiums up for people to fill out their paper ballots on. The machines weren't actually behind the privacy dividers.

I guess the poll worker, WTOP, and the newspapers got that wrong. Thanks for correcting their misinformation.
