Cut through driving

Sully Police District – In an effort to deter dangerous suburban neighborhood cut-through driving, officers initiated a high visibility enforcement campaign October 19-30. Officers issued 116 summonses, primarily for speeding, ignoring stop signs and improper passing. Officers throughout the Sully Police District focused on residential streets and intersections where drivers frequently “cut through” in an attempt to save time and distance. The enforcement effort took place primarily between the hours of 3 and 7 p.m., as children walked home from school and commuters drove home from work.

And in a week, it will be back to the same ole grind, with racing commuters who could careless about running over children and cats, just as long as they get home in time.

as much as local residents would like any driver can drive on any street.....if you dont want cars to drive on your street you should have moved to a cul-de-sac....

since all of us pay taxes for the roads we can all use all of them...period......

If kids are in the streets they deserved to be run over, especially if they are retarded and can't get out of the road!

Better cops than more speed bumps . . .

First off, I live in a Cul-de-sac, yet we have a traffic volume greater than many through streets. Second, just because you pay the taxes for these roadways, that doesn't give you a right to break the laws, and to drive like a sheer idiot.

However, it does give you the right to use the neighborhood roads as a cut-through route, as long as you drive the speed limit and obey stop signs

True, it does.

I used to cut through a neighborhood when I began driving in High School, and most kids did the same due to the traffic patterns. Sometimes Motorcycle Cops would hide in the side streets to catch speeders or erratic drivers, but that's all they really care about.

Maybe the state should actually improve the traffic problems....then maybe less people would have to resort to "cut through" driving. Nah, lets just build some hot lanes, thats what the people want..to pay money to not have to sit in traffic.

If kids didn't play in the street, parents wouldnt have to worry about them getting hit by a car...oh yeah, it's not my fault!
