it happened before that, there were those elected as Republicans who turned face and were operating to overthrow voting power.
2008 (likely before) is merely when the plan of using illegals to vote in the chair of the whole county (rather than to various boards and jobs) became apparent
it started in the Clinton years - the use of Fairfax County first as a dumping ground for D.C. (to pay the bills marion barry refused to pay, for a kick back deal). next and moreso: a flood of illegals.
Clinton years (dems and some republicans in fx co) started THE QUICK PACE OF FLOW OF ILLEGALS INTO FAIRFAX, which cummulated by 2008

there are problems:
* dems broke many laws and are facing jailtime if they loose power and face prosecution
* they are new to running up debt (compared to, ie, dems in illinois) however they can't legitimize their books
(republicans are going to sue, checks will begin bouncing: that is when the shit hits the fan)

* they have no charges to keep the person in prison
* they end up in a courtroom battle of legitimizing spending and debt - the issue is that Democrats aren't in a position to do that. at best they have a crooked just who imprisons the (denizens they impoverished). HOWEVER, POLITICAL PRISONERS IS A DANGEROUS GAME.

Pending the Fairfax County Apocalypse, might as well go ahead and enjoy living in one of the most prosperous counties (and occasionally THE most prosperous) in America, which is to say, the world, taking in the parks, history, recreational opportunities, and low, low crime rate.

The decline of Fairfax started in the late seventies when the Federal Goverment started expanding and hiring any Tom, Dick or Harry to fill space. Shit has gone downhill, since.
