Lucky you. I've been to several around the Commonwealth. I don't remember one true County Fair that I did not have to pay admission or at least pay for parking. I do remember the fairs they used to hold at GMU and don't remember paying for them, but they were not real county fairs.

They did have free cold water though in the Fairfax Water Authority display area. Ironically, I think it was bottled water. LOL.

The $15 fee is to cover the cost of the bands, fireworks, petting zoo, and other entertainment. If you enter the ride area before 5:00pm you can get an unlimited ride stamp for $23. Or you can volunteer to work Celebrate Fairfax and get free entry after your shift.

You can be an exhibitor or work with one and get in free that way. My org, used to do exhibits there. I'm not a member any more, so I don't know if they still do it, but they used to.

Fastball had the smash hit "The Way" and actually put out a decent album after that called "Little White Lies." I'm not a fan of their most recent album though.

No, it was piped in with a temporary water line hooked up inside the government center. And it not just free water, it comes in a decent plastic cup and they are generous with the ice.

As long as Everclear, the anti-Christian hate band is there, you cannot even pay me a zillion dollars to be there. Many years ago, use to regularly attend the county fair (admission was cheaper then too), but that was before the county overall became so liberal and politically correct or should say incorrect.

Howard County Fair in August is $5 and free parking. It's a real county fair with farm animals, church dining halls, 4H, rides, tractors, etc. Frederick County Fair is much bigger, and also not expensive.
